Fuck that for sure. Fuck Time anyways, their person of the year has sucked for a while now.

I thought Facebook's popularity was last year, and Twitter was big this year...

Guess Time liked that movie

In the magazine article, Zuckerberg envisions a world in which everything is connected to your Facebook friends, 24/7. You know everywhere they go and everything they do, and they know everything about you, even what TV shows you watch. Just what we all need...peer pressure from the losers that we went to school with, and it never ends. Maybe George Orwell was a little off...Big Brother isn't the government, it's Mark Zuckerberg.

The following Youtube commentary says it all.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT_cp2x0qso

And my comment is this. We have people dealing with wars and financial meltdowns, aid workers in 3rd world nations, doctors trying experimental procedures to cure AIDS, rescued Chillian mine workers. And about only 10k other people that deserve to be named man of the year. And with all these possible other people they could have chosen, they choose essentially choose the Facebook guy for marketing purposes.

facebook isn't the worst or best thing ever created in my opinion, but the man of the year certainly shouldn't have been zuckerberg.

I agree, he really has destroyed the internet. Him and Tom from myspace. I hate Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter.

Are we still not past understanding it's not Time's "Best Person of the Year"

And I can relate a lot to Zukerburg's personality, although not accurately portrayed in the movie, of course introverts are always represented to the non understanding as cold and distant. However, I did think the Social Network was a grand movie. Anyone that is aware of an entertaining drama when they see one knows that is a well made movie, plus the makers of it are very respected by me.

As far as Facebook, I don't think anyone wants to actually like it, so you're not really all that different expressing your dislike for facebook, but you know damn well the creation and reformattings of it have been very keen to human perceptions and relations.

Zuckerberg was certainly eligible for the title maybe 4 or 5 years ago but now? Why 2010? I expect only when Julian Assange ceases to be relevant 5 years down the road will he expect this award.

yeah. thats why I think Zuckerberg is a shitty choice. Time occasionally chooses really controversial people, which I like, but I don't really find anything controversial or all that interesting about the creator of Facebook. Maybe other people find him fascinating, but I don't really get it. And as someone pointed out, he was more relevant 4 or 5 years ago. Julian Assange is controversial and extremely relevant right now. He should have been picked.

True, I do think Assange was Indeed the person of the year. And yeah also true not as relevant. I was just expressing the opposing viewpoint on Zuckerburg and the Social Network movie in general.

    Good god, I'm glad I don't have a facebook.

It's really going to suck when everyone can see all the porn you watch, I'd never be free of harassment. Just for the sheer volume. And that's another reason I will never get a facebook:mickey:

Time Magazine is in trouble-their circulation is way down-Newsweek was sold for $1 last year. Time is trying to stay relavent. They went with the safe choice-

I posted this somewhere else-but I love these Hitler parodies-
