for what of a better word would be a better slayer album. for it has been reign in blood, dark, heavy, fast, speed and very brooding and outragley brilliant album, from on of metal's most legendary thrash metal band. bay area thrash had never been the same again. the question i had asked previously, apart from reign in blood what other slayer albums are better, or at least have the same quality as reign in blood.:bobby:

Seasons is really good if you don't mind the slower chunkier side of Slayer.

South Of Heaven is heavy as fuck too. Although my favourite is Show No Mercy.

Nothing else is as fast and thrashy as RIB... Hell Awaits is pretty intense but for some reason I never like that album except for the title track....

Every other Slayer album after that is terrible... Diabolous (or however its spelled) has like 3 decent songs.

I really liked Diabolus, more than most it would seem, I like all but two of the songs on it

And Perversions of Pain is one of my favourite Slayer Songs.

Was happy with the last album, Beauty Through Order especially is a real cool song.

    So I'd rank them:

    1. Reign in Blood - dont know what they were on when they made this, but it shits over every other metal album
    2. South of Heaven - lighter, but its so darn catchy
    3. Diabolus - Bitter Peace is an awesome intro, drums sound so heavy, Overt enemy is some cool experimentation. The only duds are the curious Scrum and the wishy washy Screaming From the Sky. Point is one of my favourite enders "Point is where I fuckin Diiie!"
    4. Seasons

    Then the rest.

I wish they would re-record Show no mercy and Hell Awaits, some great songs on there but production lets them down. Captor of Sin is awesome live, but sounds hokey on the album

    Show No Mercy: A
    Hell Awaits: A+
    Reign in Blood: A
    South of Heaven: A+

    After that, it gets worse.

    Seasons in the Abyss: B+
    Divine Intervention: C
    Diabolus in Musica: C

    I'd give "World Painted Blood" a B-

I forgot to mention Divine Intervention........ There's probably a reason for that...

But the rating above me is what I would have said. Except WPB was just so fake... I mean come on Lombardo you can play that shit, don't fucking let them program your drums like that.. Shit sounds like a computer.

They're slowly getting the point. They keep trying to be "current" and just come across as disinterested old men. They need the fire again. And yeah, it's time for more complex instrumentals. Making music for dumb 14-year-olds is pointless. Make music for smart 14-year-olds and the rest of us will love it.

It's a tie between "Seasons in the Abyss" and "South of Heaven". Not only is there speed and aggression, there is also variety, which is lacking in "Reign in Blood". I seem to be the only one who thinks this album is their worst.
