Could someone please help me to identify this cactus? It has very few (one on average) to no spines growing from the areole. Other than the few spines, it looks very much like a Trichocereus. Thanks.
I had a closer look and discovered that on some branches there are areole with two dark-brown to light brown colored spines growing: On other branches of the cactus the spines are single and lightly colored, as in the first posts' pictures.
Then yes, this is san pedro. He is not being looked after though, he is making due with what he can get; its older than it looks... I personally would not make use of it, though. You want the one that has adapted to some good steady sunlight and is a darker green...and see how it is lumpy, bumpy, bulby at points? Its growth bursts are for very short periods, which are then sharply truncated...
Props Ancient One! There is no way i would have guessed that is near the ocean! That one is definitely san pedro by the looks of the areole. The tallest spire seems to have some sunburn. I have a pedro about 5 feet tall that i sunburned like that from placing it in the sun too early on accident.
