One thing to keep in mind about LSD's 'safety' is the miniscule dose that Hoffman luckily discovered its psychoactivity at. You take LSD at the dose of coffee or even probably a recreational dose of vicodin, Peace out homie. Its literally really not that safe of a chemical in the grand scheme of things. We certainly know its killed animals and there has been a reported case of a guy thinking its heroin and injecting some and oding, I've also had friends not lose it per se but definitely admit repeated uses started effecting them negatively. Its really only safe in a relative sense.
True, even water is fatal if you drink enough, so let's keep this within the realm of reasonable human usage. In all my posts here and in that damn "debate" I always made the distinction between normal human dosages and ludicrous doses and between physical harm as opposed to psychological harm. I really don't get how these things I have remarked about or the scientific literature could be taken any other way than as it is presented. I'm not saying everyone should take LSD, just that the vast majority of the "dangers" that get touted have no basis in reality in normal doses and usage patterns.
Yah for sure, I didn't read the hub thread word for word LOL, but I read a decent amount of it and skimmed through the rest the other night pb and that was great. That guy got destroyed, I found it hilarious that he didn't even attempt to debunk your information and just resorted to talking shit.
Best part is I mostly just looked at and correctly interpreted the research HE quoted. Plus I included all the parts he conviently left out that was contradictory to his position.
Many things change you forever. Just the act of deciding to take LSD was a big change for me. I was 28,a drunk, rowdy and full of ego. When I started taking it,I quit drinking immediately and within a year or so of starting to take it, became considerably more mellow, understanding of others and lost the dangerous part of my ego. I have seen people along the way that were very screwed up after taking it,but obviously because of what their life experiences had "done" to them. It's not what's in the L,it's what's in the brain already. The fact that someone WANTS to take LSD--indicates a big change has occured already, not to mention if it is used as a tool for clarity of mind-bigger changes are coming. So yeah--changes you forever if only because now you're an outlaw.
lsd can be like falling in love for the first time. something as significant as that can have profound effects on your personality, the way you think, and the way you look at the world. but it's different for everyone. some people might have their trip and be on their way. others might be profoundly effected. but asking something like 'does lsd change you forever' is rather short-sighted. the essence of the psychedelic experience as it relates to our human experience can't just be explained by such a simple question. set and setting play a big role. how we go about our life plays a big role. our beliefs. there are so many things that relate to the psychedelic experience.
True enough. I remember back sometime in the 60s ,a couple were hitchhiking,I believe on the california coast, got picked up by a seemingly normal guy and when they wanted to dose ,gave the driver some. He killed them. He became extremely paranoid and it was logical in his mind why he did it,so there's an example of why some people should not ever take it. Maybe it was a matter of time before he did something very bad,but the L certainly facilitated his act.
I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to find another substance that you can take in excess of 1,000 times the standard dose and survive as with LSD... I think 'in the grand scheme of things' that is quite safe.
I don't know but I think it would SUCK ASS to not experience afterglows, like that next day is my fave, I like a tad bit of alcohol and weed those days. Woo suck on that tough guys.
That 'standard dose' is arbitrary though. Hoffman or someone else could have easily ingested 2 mgs off the bat and our whole perception of LSD's safety would be completely different.
Heres what I think: A brain on lsd is like a muscle on protein. After a while you'll even grow stones! (my attempt at being funny) I'd worry more about a cashing a car sober than experiencing any lsd related problems. But do either often enough and you might just find out you should have done something else that day. Everybody needs breaks.
met an old american guy when I was in thailand who said he was hospitalised when he was young with mental illness, escaped, got given LSD and fixed him right up
