OK, So, right now I'm agnostic. But I started listening to Tool and I'm getting new ideas. I went to Alex Grey's website www.alexgrey.com(The guy that did the awesome psychedelic art for the Lateralus album by Tool.) and I saw the Sacred Mirrors. Is there a relgion where like everything in the universe is connected, and we can see all this stuff(and go into other contiousnesses and all that other stuff) and more by dreams and psychedelic substances(Pot, LSD, mushrooms, peyote, ect.)? Also, what relgion is James Maynard Keenan and the other members of Tool? I thought they believed in that stuff...? It showed the Universal Mind Lattice and all that stuff in the Parabola video. Hmm...naturalist or pagan religions may be something you want to look into. A good legal psychadelic substance is Slavia (you can read about it in the psychadelic forums). It is not anything you would use recreationally, but the maztecs (I believe) would use it for their rituals. It will definitely give you the spiritual experience you are looking for. Use it wisely and respectfully though. And read a lot about it before trying it.
In most mystical traditions everything in the universe is connected, especially look into Taoism, Buddhism (relating to conditionality) and Hinduism. This isn't really a central tenet in Taoism but in Buddhism and Hinduism it is. Look for the phrase Web of Creation, and interdependance. Or you could figure it out for yourself, I got a few phrases that struck me about it and I worked it out for myself. And by the way, don't fuck around with linking sincere spiritual practice with drug use. Seriously. I know the Rastafarians do it but I doubt you'd really subscribe to it (you might I don't know you). I've met shamans who also do it but it's so controlled. They do a tiny bit of pot and shrooms but the ammount you take is very very precise, you'd have your body weighed up and everything. Normally the sort of drugs (hallucinegens) they use are nothing you could ever get near. If you could get your hands on some (nicking some from a very high ranking south american shaman, or learning to recognise them and trecking through the jungle to find it yourself) if you take a tiny ammount (as in VERY tiny) you would wake up, at the very least 3 days later, more likely a week or two, in a mental home after thinking you were a chicken AND an earthworm for a week. In other words don't go there. If you're looking to get high on drugs, find a dealer, not a wiseman. You have to enlighten yourself, drugs can't do it for you. Then again that's for you to learn yourself, not for me to tell me. Blessings Sebbi P.S. If you want to know about TOOL, go to a music and musician forum. We have a couple of good ones here, also MX (www.musicianforums.com) is very good. Alternitively Google does exist for a reason.
Ok I've used Salvia many times and I'm quite aware of it. I'm a psychedelic substance user. I didn't say I was looking for a spiritual expirence. I asked about religion. I'm not fucking around with linking sincere spiritual practice with drug use. I am linking sincere spiritual practice with drug use. I believe are both connected. I can get acid, peyote, shrooms and all that stuff whenever I want. I don't need a dealer. I'm not just looking to get "high" on drugs. I'm using substances to expand my mind. P.S. I can find shit about this on google.
Religion is the tint on the window shown to you by hallucinogens. The truth of the drug lies within, not without.
Tibetan Budhism and Shamanism are what you should check out. Just do a search.... God is everywhere....
umm... Well, drugs can sometimes accent spirituality, but you really don't want to depend on them. It is far better to meditate and bring mindfulness into your life, than just taking acid or shrooms when you want to feel spiritual. Mindfulness works all the time. Drugs are just a tool, they can help show the way, but you have to do the traveling yourself. Use them sparingly, and use meditation daily. I thought it said on Tools site what kind of spirituality each band member is into. I seem to remember looking at the Bio section and seeing that.
