This is something I've been wondering about...basically, in this day in age of political correctness and such where the almighty dollar reigns supreme, is it possible to have yourself committed (voluntarily or otherwise) to a mental institution for an extended period? Im not even sure why i ask...but i'm just curious to know if that's something that you could fall back on if your life were to ever totally collapse or something like that. It just seems like every homeless person in the country would be doing that then to get their 3 squares a day and a warm bed.
