I was sitting here smoking some trees deep into thought, and was thinking... why the hell are we in debt when the government makes money?
If you keep printing money with nothing to back it up with then that money is just so much paper. I'm sure we could print enough money to wipe out our debts, but that money would be worthless.
money spent > money made money created = 0, worthless personally i dont understand our economic system at all because it makes no damn sense.
There's no real gold to back up all our debts. I guess we don't have it all like they once made us think.
The government does not print our money, the federal reserve does, which, in spite of it's name, is a private institution. We are in debt because the federal reserve prints the money, but then lends it to the government, and the government insures the money with bonds. The federal reserve charges interest for this service, but since they are the ones printing the only money, it is only possible to pay back the original sum, and not the interest. Google "fractional reserve banking"
Congress is who makes the budget and sets spending, the fed, along with the CBO and other groups can only make recommendations. The Fed being a banking system does have the power to buy government securities among other things, but the fact remains the Fed only owns a part of overall government debt(which inter government loans are much easier to repay and refiance on interest than bonds held by the public or other governments) and congress is responsible for setting government spending.

i think china is going to become the largest english speaking country, if it isn't already, so you might want to learn that spanish and act like you can't speak english, you know, just incase.
I always thought that the schools were kinda ridiculous. They have you learn spanish, but randomly throw in german (At least at my schools i've been too...) Or french or something, but in your life you'll mainly need to know Spanish and Chinese, so they should take out german.
