If you don't see the difference between trying to monitor the internet and make you sign up on a list (which will be used as a negative character witness tool, in the UK's current legal system) and change the very nature of the internet, and television, you do need to leave this conversation. The internet is a back and fourth tool, television is a "pay to watch what we want" sort of system, they are very different.
I know it's a worn out point, but I still don't understand why sex - something so natural and essential - is always getting covered up while violence is fine. In many ways, Tom & Jerry is probably more detrimental to a child's mental health than porn (depending on the porn) Sexual satisfaction is a basic human right, and while it can be attained without porn, for many people, porn makes it much more convenient, and viable. An avenue where you can pursue your every fantasy, twisted though they might be, without involving anyone who doesn't want to be involved, no risk of STDs, no pregnancies, and so on. What's not to love? Should be encouraged!

This video was just posted on facebeek by the band, asides from being an awesome video and song it just seemed kind of fitting here. After I watched it the second time I noticed that the girl at the end has an adam's apple, or at least it looks like it,and I wondered if this tied in with the theme of the video, which does seem to have a kind of sexual subtext, with the snakes, the forbidden fruit and all that from the Adam and Eve story in the bible.
All of these attempts to block people viewing things on the internet (be it porn or any other content) ultimately fails. We saw that here in Australia with the proposed internet filter that finally got quietly shelved. In reality the so called people they are trying to 'protect' will know how to get the this stuff anyway. Most 13 year olds will know how to use a proxy or vpn to bypass filters. We live in a tech world now, governments are just going to take a while to catch up. They always do.
SafeSearch moderate Change Choose how you want to filter your results: StrictFilter sexually explicit content using a strict filter. ModerateFilter sexually explicit content using a moderate filter. OffDo not filter search results. Turning off SafeSearch may result in the display of mature or sexually explicit content that is considered unsuitable for younger users. By clicking Agree, you acknowledge that you are at least 18 years of age or at least the age of majority where you are located. The search porn block may return explicit adult content and has been filtered by your Bing SafeSearch settings. Your current Bing SafeSearch setting filters out results that might return adult content. To view those results as well, change your SafeSearch setting This works. Well, with a password enabler on it too (for parents). I think it is the parents place to monitor their childs activity. But the majority don't care. Perhaps a reminder from their ISPs about adult content might wake therm up, but I doubt it. Having said that... I think the simplest solution, given the various means (Internet cafe's etc) children can gain access to the internet, IS for the ISPs to do something.
In 2009, the UK Government joined the Netherlands and other European nations in encouraging teens to masturbate at least daily. An orgasm was defined as a right in its health pamphlet. This was done in response to data and experience from the other EU member states to reduce teen pregnancy and STIs (STDs), and to promote healthy habits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKqo0EBZShw"]YouTube - PLEASURE: OK to teach Teen Masturbation? | THE VIEW
As if they need any encouragement in that department. FOR FUCK'S SAKE! What planet are the government living on these days? It's certainly not this one that is for sure.. Send them all back to whatever fucked up world they came from I say. I've had enough of listening to their pish for one lifetime...
To be fair, it seems, Sheffield Primary Care Trust gave out a few leaflets labeled "Pleasure" and that's about it. I just found it funny putting a slightly unfair representation here.
I agree that limiting pron in this manner is not a good thing. Government+internet is rarely a good thing. The pron was here first. If you want to change one of the fundements of the internet, then go buy a program to safen-up. Just like we do with anti-v/malware. I understand the paranoia of thinking there is a list out there with your name connected to whatever perversions you happen to surf and it's potential of use. This worries me too. But I like to think things out before I jump on a bandwagon and in that process this question came up and I was curious... With satellite and various on demand television services, you have to opt in for the pron. They have your name and info. Now has there ever been any case where one of these companies had given this information over to the government/authorities for the sake of keeping tabs? or authorities acting on such information? Not asking to argue. Honestly curious.
Well I've seen a lot of movies where they use what movies someone bought while staying at a hotel as defamation, doesn't seem like that far of a stretch to do it in real life. Idk if the UK would do it but if it was the US they -would- be doing it, and putting out BS news stories about how some little girl was traumatized by seeing a cock and that's why the porn block needs to pass
My beef isn't with the idea of porn, but with the fact that this bill or act or whatever (that by the looks of it is absolutely not going to pass) show that the government is trying to gain a higher level of control over the internet. The point of the internet is that it's easily accessible and open to everyone. If you don't want your kid watching it, don't let them go on the computer when you're not in the room. That's not to say that they still won't find it, but really... in the end I think that if parents relaxed about issues like sex their children would see it as more of a natural occurrence than something to be abused and enjoyed shamefully in secret. Sexual repression is not healthy.
