These symptoms suggested that our evolution, I suppose, from the
    animal kingdom
Into the human kingdom itself was catalyzed, or triggered by our
    encounter with
    These hallucenogenics, and

Yes, we are an ape with a symbiotic relationship to a mushroom,
    and that has
Given us self reflection, language, religion and all the
    spectrum of effects
    That flow from these things.

And one can only wonder how these hallucinogens might effect our
    future
    Evolution as well...

They have brought us to this point, and as we make our
    relationship to them
Concious, we may be able to take control of our furute
    evolutionary path.

Those are mudvayne lyrics. When i first heard this song "Monolith" i became intrigued with this idea. Upon farther research i found that this is an actually viable theory on human evolution. Interesting, no? Thoughts or comments? I know this should probobly be in the mind fuck forums... but you are the guys i know and like talking to ^_^.

i still dont think it works.

i believe animals are the stoned ones
i think sobriety as humans know it is the evolved trait, not drug enlightenment.
you can see clearly how animals often have stoned-attributes in their behavior. or how humans become more animal when they get stoned. im not going to list them here though.

ive not got too much to back it up with, but it is the direction i would investigate if i chose to investigate the subject. and ive thought about it a lot.

im not saying tho that animals are constantly blazed off their minds. but on a scale of stonedness (or some other kids of drugs) most if not all animals could be scaled in some way. but its hard to comunicate the ideas of this sort on a human level much, because the ideas of being stoned are slightly skewed by the 'psychedelic' effect, which may well be a human trait as this thread is saying: but i dont think its the base of human intelligence. id be more inclined to thinkning its human sobriety.

smoking weed is not teh antural process though. the natural process are the endocannibinoids, the natural stoning chemicals. it is possible that smoking weed is a bit more complex than that, because the chemicals -are- rather different in structure.

its the basis of impulse, bias, emotion, memory/learning

humans have evolved certain devices, and when we get stoned, we drop some of these devices

Some of the earliest traces of the god-concept are found among siberian aboriginal tribes that practiced ritual ingestion of amanita mushrooms. Likewise, some of the ancient tribes of india (see "Soma")

If mushrooms did indeed give rise to religious belief, than it can be argued that they have been a negative influence on human evolution.

but, human evolution is based on the stongest /most adapted survive. and so, religion must have a role in human survival. the reasons some of us humans dislike religion has nothing to do with teh survival of our species. the most sustained specieis would be that where everyone is under one religion, all obeying the same, all commanding power, all obvlivious to human deisres, interested only in preserving their religion.. and since their religion is something humans have developed, religion can be shown to sustain humanity, at least of its own kind. just think of the way religion brings people together more than almsot anything else.

Yet religion is a force of conservative surppresion.

It places a damper on social as well as scientific/technological development. It discourages independent thought. It is a force that stifles creativity and understanding. It would replace objective knowledge with unsubstaniated dogma.
It equates belief with reality. I could go on and on and on...

yes, but none of those thigns seem to be harmful to humanity's existance? religion would have had to have a positive affect on our survival, though it obviously has a negative affect on our mind's wellbeing.

I think religion has brought us this far... but to continue we must dismiss it. It holds so much back. Science>religion. Science cannot continue until this christianity is disreguarded.
