just because you don't want to see your ex anymore doesn't mean that you also have to abandon your friends. maybe things won't be the same with all of you hanging out but you should still try to maintain your friendships. your friends ought to be able to understand if you don't want to be around him.

it could be a bummer not being able to go camping with everyone on new years, but it could be even more frustrating being there...

friends come and go. but true friends will stick with you through thick and thin.

You get to know them. You realise that everyone is the same, connected. That if one individual has the power to put you into this love that another one can as well. When you really think about this person do you glamourize them? Do you think to yourself-honestly and look at all of the hardship he's put you through. How he has hurt you by sneaking around and being dishonest. Is that the type of person you want to be with? I hope not. There are too many women in this world who are stuck in this lust for men that don't treat them the way they deserve to be treated. Sometimes what you think is love is just this incredible in like. I remember being completly "in love" with this one person for 4 years. Anyone that would try to argue with me that it wasn't love i'd impress them with this poetic loyalty to him. That i'd be waiting for him forever. That he was the one and you only love once etc. Now I realise that It was just easier to glamourize a man who I didn't know everything about or really had gotten to know well enough to love him than to find real love. Because real love is harder, real love you have to face yourself. It's easy to love someone you can't have because then you can just sob in your misery and use it as an excuse to not be with your real true love. He had moved away to Toronto and while he was gone it was THEN that it hit me that I was "in love with him". Yes it's a completly different circumstance but my point is that sometimes we can be sooo sure of something right now. But we come to our senses later and realise that it wasn't the case at all. Love will find you. And it might not be love at first site...or something reminiscent of a hallmark greeting card. It will be real, it will be struggle and it will take work- and it will be beautiful. But if you hold on to something that isn't there you're only walking away from a beautiful love that you have yet to meet. That should be what helps you to overcome these feelings. "how do you get over someone" you realise that you are just as important as them and that you are happy without them. Just as he is without you.


Anyways I hope I could have helped you even in the least. I often go off in tangents.

 

Just be true to yourself, you cant make decisions in life based upon how you think your ex may view you or how it will be if you have contact with him or not. Decide what is important to you and live your life accordingly. If it means you have contact with people that upset you then you need to decide if the heartache is worth the pain. Emotional, soft hearted people always get hurt as they put too much store in the affection of another, the stronger less emotional partner walks away pitying us for a while then dont give a shit. it is time to consider yourself first for once and promise yourself you will live the life YOU desire not the one others allow you to live.

I am struggling to get over someone but it does get better, some days a small thing will let the memories flood back and your heart breaks again, only not quite as badly as the last time. Take your time to think about what you want from life and take positive steps towards it . Take care and be happy
