Hey anyone and everyone, I was just curious to find out more about lucid dreaming. They appear very therapeutic and insightful so I would really like to get into them. But I want to know is there any other method that doesnt require having a dream log? I just cant pull myself to write down my dreams in the morning, that's only thing that my laziness holds me back. If there are other methods that work pretty well I would love to hear! Thanks a ton.

When I want to lucid dream Ill usually sit back and listen to music or something with my eyes closed. Eventually Ill get to a point where Im sleeping but the music infiltrates my dream. It is my trigger I guess you could say, it reminds me that I am dreaming and allows me to take control of it.

Unless you happen to catch yourself dreaming while actually asleep lucid dreaming can be pretty exhausting. For example if you choose to just sit back and slip into a lucid dream, get carried away, and stay in it for an hour or so youll come out of it pretty tired. How it happens for me anyway

If you are too lazy to keep a dream log then you might as well forget about lucid dreaming.

The method is to realize your dreaming somehow but don't freak out about it and get all excited or else you will awake.

Usually you can find something that relates in all your dreams that tells you your dreaming and once you notice this trigger just calmly control your dream.

The generator of lucid dreams is rapt attention. Lucid dreams are often the result of emotionally intensity.

It isn't "necessary" for everyone, but for a beginner who is just starting out?
Yeah, it's necessary. It's necessary to teach you to recognize signals and cues that will allow you to wake up within the dream.

People forget their dreams as time passes, except for perhaps extremely evocative or emotional ones.
Do you remember all of the dreams you had two weeks ago? Three? With a dream journal you are guaranteed that memory, and all the helpful bits of information about your dreams that are contained in that memory.

"I'm too lazy to keep a dream journal" is a bad sign for someone trying to lucid dream. It signifies that you aren't really committed and just want lucid dreams to start falling out of thin air. Everyone has probably had them every now and then, but if you want to have them on a regular basis, or learn to have them without waking up literally, then you pretty much need to keep a dream journal.

The dream log then a way to focus your intent. You become more awake in this moment to be more awake in dreams.

Well don't discourage me either then, geez. Haha, I was just curious to see if there were any other methods that didn't require a dream log. But if it's the only way I'll try my best to own up to it and get it done.

Look up the WILD technique, it stands for Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming.
Basically you relax on your back and try to empty your mind, and in about 20-30 mins your body with put itself to sleep, while you are still awake. You will consciously go into a dream, and you will lucid dreaming, here is a link for help:

    Hope it helps

I didn't mean to discourage you and it isn't the only way, but keeping a dream journal will help you more than you know.

I will definitely look into the WILD method. And I'm proud to say that I wrote down two of the dreams I had last night( what I could remember from both anyways). Hope this is the start for something really great.

Another quick question If someone will answer it.
Do you feel that lucid dreaming makes you feel happier? Mentally?
And has it helped you in any other ways?
    Thanks for listening.

I have been conscious of dreaming and found myself consciously organizing the dream and I suppose this could be considered lucid dreaming. The extent of that phenomena is just that level of awareness. However there is another quality of dream in which I had found myself in a dream but the dream was so sharp, distinct in it's features, as to seem "super real", and in those instances I did not influence the dream but rather the dream had a profound effect on me.
These are the dreams I consider "lucid" in my own experience, and yes they have influenced my life overall for the better.

i posted this in another thread, I think it's good advice. this is what I have done and lucid dreams have become much more common for me.

little things like eating a better diet and exercising more can help you stay asleep and have a more clear dream. you could also try meditating while awake, or if your not into that just listen to music and dance and focus on thinking new things, if you have any grudges or "drama" in your life that you think about often just try to come to peace with those thoughts within yourself so that you can move on and ultimately open your mind more. instead of approaching the experience anxiously try to work on your memory, and after a while you'll start to notice cool things, such as: when your dream memory is developed more you remember dreams you had completely forgotten years ago randomly through out your day, you'll also start to remember the dreams you had the previous night in the middle of the day at random times (trust me these are cool.) and finally once you've been through this process you will have much more vivid dreaming experiences.
remember that anxiousness is the reason you can't stay in the dream.

my lucid dreams are not particularly stable. When I enter a lucid dream, my subconscious seems to be temporarily shocked by the occurrence, and as such, everything stops moving briefly like a glitching video game, and then I have enormous conscious control for a brief period of time, and then my subconscious recovers from the shock and my conscious control deteriorates to almost nothing. after what feels like 30 seconds, I have to stop looking at something in the dream to consciously change it.
    my personal favorite: flying.
