Despite what many hoped would be a long term occupation, the Iraq government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has decided to end the occupation by the end of 2011 as agreed. Now that Iraq has finally formed a government inclusive of all factions, they have little need for the U.S. military to remain in the country. Whether the US will actually leave completely remains to be seen, and conditions on the ground might cause people to reconsider. Read Story
I'm guessing out C.I.A. will get up to their old tricks and figure a way to make the Maliki government fear the withdrawal of US troops, and change his tune. I can see where more massive attacks by C.I.A. trained "Al-Qaeda" might happen in the future so they can justify remaining in the country...
I guess it's already begun. Coordinated bombings in Iraq against government installations... Put the fear in the Iraqi gov't so the US stays... Got it... Imagine how many U.S. contractors stand to lose their Iraq contracts? So you can expect these big shady corporations to do whatever is necessary to keep the gravy train afloat. Can you spell XE? I bet they're aiming to keep the US there and won't stop at anything. http://www.truth-out.org/coordinated-bombings-kill-least-14-iraqs-anbar-province66310
Bloodmoneysucking bitches that don't have respect of human life and there selfs. Are the ones that need to finish this unsolve war just like anyother war
If The Bush clan were still in charge, they might come up with the idea to say, "Yeah we're withdrawing from Iraq", and then do a step sideways, over the border to invade Iran... after all, that's just next door, the supply chain via Saudi-Arabia and other more or less US-friendly nations down there is still up and running... could be a nice opportunity for people thinking that way... if you wish to call those brainfarts "thinking", that is. This is so frustrating, we have absolutely no further reason to be in that country (not saying we had much of a reason to invade it either, but it's a moot point by now) and it's obvious that our continued occupation is not for the sake of the people but for the sake of the corporation owner's wallets.
What does it matter if the troops are pulled out? The US Embassy in Iraq is the worlds largest, and is essentially a Military base in itself, a self contained massive compound which is more like a fortress than an Embassy, with a staff of 5000 and top secret security and defensive systems. Not to mention the couple of hundred Diplomats (Spies) that will be operating there. They'll do a wonderful job of protecting US interests in the region.
Good news. Now all the semi-literate U.S. Marines, Army troops and other Gomer Pyle types can come back to the U.S. and take up jobs as cops, jailers, CCA employees (Corrections Corp of Amerika) or, if they have any brains, farm labourers and truck drivers. From everything I've ever heard about the U.S. military, they don't have the brains to be farm labourers. That being the case, a lot of them will just stay in the military -- American military men deserve the American military and vice versa. This is my rifle. This is my gun. This one's for fighting. This one's for fun. Anyone can join the Army, But it takes a special man to become a Marine... (Yeah, right) This is good news because the Americans deserve it. The Iraqis have had enough and can look after their own affairs quite well without foreign interference, thank you very much. (Anyone who has any doubts about what I'm trying to say here, go to www.military.com and read the forums.)
Actually dirtydog, the US military has not only met its needs with qualified people in 2010, they've already met more than half their quota for 2011 already. No more felons, and 98% are high school grads now. Jobs are hard to come by when your country spends its treasure on war, unless you become a soldier. What do you expect from the Gorgon State? One good piece of news, the quotas went down. Less cannon fodder is required at the moment. Gorgon State Drones do a better job anyway, right?
lol And what exactly will Iraq's military do about it if we decide we want to stay? I want to see the US leave Iraq as much as anyone else, but I have no illusions that Iraq is even capable of kicking us out.
