hey guys, so i as i filled up over 600GB of my second 1TB external hard drive.. i realized with all this stuff i download, its probably best i find some way to protect my anonymity as i rely on the internet as my main source of movies, music, games, tv shows, etc basically, is there any way to keep your torrent activities undetectable? i know more and more people are getting fines and letters from their ISP's.. if theres any programs out there which can hide your download activites from your ISP, id be grateful for the scoop

best way to keep torrent activity undetectable is to minimize your upload rate.. with streaming video and music via youtube.. hulu.. etc.. its really tough for providers to tell if you are downloading via torrent.. but when you are uploading a gig here and there.. they may get suspicious.. personally i don't upload anything.. set my upload rate to 5kb.. and when its done downloading i delete the torrent file PeerBlock is a nice little program which blocks different IP ranges that are known for scanning for illegal downloading
Does that mean you shouldn't alow seeding either ? I mostly use my android and download via wifi. I actually use wifi for most data on on my phone.
Tor looks like a good program (so far). The browser for android sux though but it does work for what I need. Any other ideas on maintaining some privacy on smart phones? Complete privacy is impossible on the internet. However u can make it harder for people to track ya. Any other ideas on having some privacy with Android, blackberry, I phones etc.. What about using a pre paid service like boost Mobil for down loads, political forums, researching treatment options , or whatever you want do but don't want big brother or your boss, friends, or family to know. I know a pre paid is poor protection as the data its self is not protected if it leads back to a fake person that may offer some protection. I created a fake face book account and I was stunned when it suggested friends that I actually knew. Even my sisters page came up as a suggested friend. I never communicated with any of them on FB. They weren't friends of friends. Gave me moment of pause. Rule # 2 would be don't use FB! I guess
Anyone know how to set up orbot ( the Mobil version of tor ) with a different browser like fire fox, dolphin or even the Android stock browser? The orbot browser is ok but very basic.
You need to join a private tracker or use speed killing tor. If you never seed you deserve to get kicked from your site for taking but not giving.
Ok thanks I will try that. I always let it seed. I just asked the question to the previous post. If no one seeds there would be nothing to download. Don't think people realize that these sites keep track of all that. Just noticed this should be in the computers,internet thread.
