I still have vivid memories of 1993 when we drove up to an area just south of the canadian border. We hopped out of the car just in time to take some great shots of the event in it's totality. :2thumbsup: Hotwater
Hello, in 1999 I had my russian Zenith camera (funny how we can remember such details) with me, but I didn't shot any photos. Thinking about it it was the right decission. You can shoot photos or you can marvel and feel the splendidness of the situation. You can't do both. I know professional astronomers who feel the same. Regards Gyro
Two large quakes have hit South America over the weekend. The first was a mag. 7.1 hitting Argentina. The second was a 7.2 hitting Chile. Could this be related to the coming January 4th Solar Eclipse? Watch for large earth changing events such as earthquakes and volcanoes, 14 days prior to and/or 14 days after a solar or lunar eclipse.
Hello, hmm, *scratching head*. Is it you, Ruedi? One knows the masses of the earth, the sun, the moon and so on. Just do the math. Or think about what tomorrow's new moon distinguishes from the new moon four weeks ago and then try to formulate why this one should cause an earthquake, but the one four weeks ago didn't. Regards Gyro
As difficult as it is to believe but the best way to predict an earthquake is still through the study of paleoseismology Hotwater
Just geting coffeed and porridged up right now, but it's looking kind of overcast outside. If i do go out later at best i can hope for is a break in the clouds to see it for a minute or so. Might be lucky, it was the same deal in 1991 when I saw it in Reims in France. Totally overcast, and the stupid ass coach driver nearly drive us out of the line of totality. But we were lucky and the clouds broke at just the right time. The coach driver sat in the bus reading a newspaper throughout the whole thing.
Hello, even watching the behaviour of your pets might give a better prediction of earthquakes than watching out for eclipses does . Regards Gyro
Arse and tits again. Clearish sky above the whole time, big dirty low pressure system clouding my view on the horizon just at the place where the sun rises So I saw pretty much fuck all until right at the end when the sun came through the clouds and I saw the shadow of the moon just disappearing off the edge. Took some photos so just going to see if any of them came out. Had a nice time up there listening to X-Dream and having a wee trance session on top of craiglockhart hill though, and rejoicing the in the moment of celestial alignment. Peace, love and light.
My pictures are total shite compared to the ones on here LOLZ http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12100295 Check out the one that was taken in Spain, it's pretty fucking awesome! And there are some great ones here too, check out the one with the silhouette of the bird against the eclipsing sun. I'd be chuffed to little pieces if I'd taken that picture! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-12111554
Hello, ja gerne, where can I get them ? it started promising, but then clouds all over the south eastern sky. Anyway, even without the clouds the pics would have been crap. Too much light without a filter for my digital camera. Regards Gyro
