So I'm new to gardening in an area that receives snowfall, I want to know how well will the plants fare in snowfall?
Any particular type of plant(s)? Most outdoor plants that are already established and planted in the ground do alright, as long as they are healthy to begin with, unless it drops below freezing, then you need to cover them with a blanket/tarp
plants die. Unless they are evergreens. some ornamental plants may stay green in the winter but will not grow .. grass grows in the winter, it just dont grow very much, Once temperatures are below freezing. most plants dont fare well at all..
I take care of one for an elderly neighbor and all I know is that the only thing that ever gets left in during the winter is one variety of garlic....everything else gets replanted from scratch every year....except there is a few types of flowers that she makes me save the roots and they stay in her basement for replanting in the spring
It'll depend where you are. I leave Leeks and Swedes in the ground overwinter here [NE England] and despite a heavier than normal amount of snow than usual this year they came through Ok. Here, annuals wont make it, perennials usually do.
