You won't get much for chemicals out of plastic, but having acrid smoke up against plastic and inhaling it is GOING to give you more plastic (often estrogen mimicing....) chemicals than glass, which is basically pure quartz. And foil, while you won't taste it, is still vaporizing, a bic does get hot enough to start burning it off, back in the day on GC I got into this debate, someone linked us to a bunch of combustion temps, a bic is supposted to be something like 1300 degrees. Take a safety pin or needle, and hold it in the tip of a bic flame, it will glow red hot. And haven't you ever hit a bottle, used it for a few days, and then realized that there's a bubbled, deformed part on the opposite side of the stem, under the water line? Not good, man...

Yes but minuscule amounts(very minuscule, a bic at it's hottest can get near the melting point of aluminum, both of which are about 1,200F) of a substance vs the massive amounts of smoke being inhaled, not to mention any escaped butane/naphtha from the lighter itself as well as the burning hot heat. Really it's focusing on the health risks of the least damaging to your health aspect of smoking. Especially if compared to joints/blunts.

you don't think a tiny bit of plastic smoke could more harmful than a larger amount of pot smoke? plus, the pot smoke gets you high...plastic and tin foil don't. i don't like thinking about inhaling butane either. i use a hemp wick to light my bong a lot of the time

 

Porky pork get a Hakko 455 soldering iron and say fuck you to butane forever, unless you're making bho. It really is the classiest way to combust your herb.

I've considered a hakko, but that shit's so expensive.... I have a 14 dollar soldering iron from my local hardware store, and while you can't take off the sheating like a hakko, you can take off the nib and use a butter knife to hold a little chunk of bud partly in the well on the end (not all the way, or you'll wreck the THC.... shit gets 900 degrees) and suck it up with a straw. Takes no other implements. I plan to, when I find something that works, set it up as a whip vape.... just need a pure iron thing, possibly with integral bowl, to replace the rather far from food grade nib it came with. I 'spose I'll forge one when I get a shop set up... so eventually.

 

40$ is an investment in your health, really not that expensive in the long run, and the 25w dash is even cheaper and will still do the trick. I've definitely spent more than 40$ in my life on lighters.

every young person should own a bong, its a classic for crying out loud although they can be hard to hide...

 

Glass ashtray will work fine, otherwise the stands are pretty inexpensive as well and there's multiple varieties to choose from. I would go with the 25w dash for your purposes as the heating element is only glowing red for half and inch with that one. With the 40w you have more like an inch that gets glowing red, and you don't want to touch that ceramic element to the bud as it's pretty hot.

I have the 25w personally and I think it tastes better than using beeline or i-tal.

Though I do think i-tal burns a lot slower than the beeline, so if you still like hemp wicks I hope you've tried i-tal :cheers2:

i-tal is actually the only one i've used. one $3 spool that my fiance bought me has lasted MONTHS. but i only use it about 1/2 the time or less.

 

Im sure there is nothing like a nice bong rip and vap. these seem so mechanical.. you have to really be chilling , setting up hits.. not on the go type of thing..

even with joints ., one must break out the buds , twist it. time consuming...

smoking a pipe/ bowl is harsh and cant really be a continuous thing...

I would say the Bong is the nicest hit, though the re-lighting lighter over and over is a pain too,.,.. get that lighter callus thumb going..

A Wick and Bong now thats tight/ If I wasnt moving I could sit in my office chair with a nice bong -and wick pack buds and not be so cumbersome..

I think smoking cannabis has different smoking comfort levels. Idk if the idea is to get hammered toxin free and you got weed like that,. Vap that shit.
