First of all, that way you could post hard rock in a blues rock thread as well. Actually, I think I see the influences in that case more apparent. Reggae dub, ska dub, psy dub, ambient dub are all varieties of dub indeed but dubstep isn't. That's not because I don't want it to be or something, just listen: the most obvious similarities might be the bleepy sounds and the fact both genres lean heavy on bass and drum. I don't even say rhythm, cause dubstep really does something different there... Overall dubstep reminds me more off certain drum 'n bass and jungle acts than dub and I'm not even sure if the dub in dubstep is there because of a link to the genre of dub at all either.
