Please tell us the rarest psychopharmaceutical you have taken. The only rules are that it

    1. Is a Psychopharmaceutical, that is, mind altering. It has to be pharmaceutical, not a plant, herb, or anything like that. It must be a named and patented substance. It must be also directly affect the mind. You may have taken some unusual antibiotics, but that doesn't count. Also, methamphetamine made in a basement doesn't count. Desoxyn does.

    2. You must have known what it was when you took it. You can't post something you "thought" was a certain drug.

    3. It must be considered rare. Even if taking Effexor seems rare to you, know that it is rather commonly prescribed.

    4. You must tell us your experience- effects, hangover, etc. . Exemptions for very rare drugs that aren't made anymore.

Feel free to post a list if you want to. Anything is fair game from opioids to benzos to psych meds to old-school sedatives. The drug doesn't need to be around anymore to post.

I have quite a few in the psych med category that I will talk about once a few people get posting!

lidocaine: It seemed mildly psychoactive and definitely numbed the area on my arm that was infected. I forget what the procedure is called but they basically shot me up twice with the lidocaine, sliced this granuloma thing off my arm and glued over the area shut.

For me it would likely be an antipsychotic that isn't used that much like Geodon (zisprazidone). I had some Prochlorperazine, which is a first generation antipsychotic, at one point. They were interesting. Those are probably the rarest ones I have ingested.

As for recreational pharms, I really haven't had anything too rare. The strangest was probably brand name Balacet, which is like the now-banned Darvocet, but stronger.

    lidocaine is psychoactive? hmm interesting...

i don't think lidocaine is that rare, i work at a pharmacy and we prescribe it all the time in various different forms. We do probably 10 prescriptions a day for 10ml vials to use before inserting painful IVs. but thats cool its mildly psychoactive, i had no idea.

it numbed the shit out of me so I just may have associated with psychoactivity but even for a minute or two it felt like my head was really light.

I've used haloperidol (antipsychotic) didnt really do anything to me that I would consider a high but the following day I always felt tired as fuck.

Your head was light because lidocaine contains epinephrine.

The rarest drug i have had was tuinal. I don't think they make it anymore.

Damn, there've been a lot of them. Not sure which would be the most uncommon. Tussionex is pretty rare around these parts, but it's probably the best.

Yes. I also dislike Seroquel. Not only do the side effects suck horribly, but it doesn't even help psychosis, which it is made for (antipsychotic). I'll stick with Zyprexa, which I find 100 times more effective and less shitty than Seroquel.

i'm prescribed seroquel, and i like the sedation it causes for sleep.

rarest pharm i've ever done would have to be... buspar. but it sucks major ass. doesn't do shit unless snorted.

You can get lidocaine OTC in various preperations. Far from rare, it's one of the most common local anesthetics available and is often used to gyp cocaine.

Another pretty rare one I have is Ergotamine Tartrate. It had to be specially ordered to the pharmacy. It is for my migraines. The funny thing is that a month after I got it, I read that it is like the "Holy Grail" ingredient in the synthesis of LSD!

I think it works really well, actually. I can't take triptans (Imitrex, et. al.) due to medication interactions, so E.T. is what I got. I think Naproxen Sodium works almost as well, though, and it is OTC haha.
