i am not looking forward to the next week of cold temps....gonna cost me a small fortune

 

My furnace has been on a lot in the last two days because of the east wind. I have windows along that side of the house that run the whole side and the oil company loves that feature on my house.

 

woodstove here...10% is free from people cutting trees and the other 90% is hardwood pallets from a store where a friend works (also free)

 

We're doing great for heat so far... even taking into consideration the warm temps...

Tomorrow I should be doing some work under the house that will make it even better... and changing the front wood stove out for the wood cookstove... finally...

 

Do you only use wood to heat? At night do you just build it up and then do it again in the morning?

I have a friend who has a pellet stove and they use it most of the time. Heats their place really well. They have electric for back up but rarely use it.

I seen pellet stoves at the store but never seen anyone who actually uses one

 

I was really impressed with theirs. They go through a bag of pellets in about a day when it is really cold (-20) but the house is really warm. It also has a nice glow. So they load the pellets in and leave it alone until the next day.

It also seems to be a clean burn, not a lot of dust and such in the air from it.

 

maybe if I get this fucking house and property sold, ill get me a wind genny for this one..

Random Fact...My computer is running better today, the pages aren't having any trouble loading today...

 

mwe had a pellet stove in muskoka but my mom switched it over to propane cause she couldnt lift the pellet bags and was paranoid about being stuck up there without any son to fill the stove..

...bbad...you are aware that some of those pallets are 'sprayed' and very un healthy to burn indoors?..could be why you are hacking blood on occasion?

 

I am quite thrilled that heat is included in my rent. I don't see $$'s in my head everytime the heat turns on.

I have has this stupid cold going on 3 weeks. Actually I think it is 2 seperate colds back to back. Either way it sucks not be able to breath with all the disgusting noises that go along with a bad cold.

I guess I shouldn't complain since today is the only day of work for this week (between sickness and snowstorm), followed by a 4 day weekend. :2thumbsup:

I took 2 decent hits at the most. so my mom had bought a killer telescope for my step dad it was for something they both could do together. for his 50th b-day she paid 1500 for it. she is not letting him take it with him. he posted on his cousin facebook, I can bring the telescope up this summer. he is going to be pissed she is keeping that. she paid for it so it's only fair she get's to keep it. she doesn’t want him saying ha-ha I got the telescope out of her.. things are going to get nasty real fast. I told her she should have a police man over here when things hit the fan
