For most of my teen years, Society and Government has pressured me to become something I don't want to be, another Human Being who is thoughtless, careless and irresponsible. We all know in our hearts what the truth is, for every 1 person who spends their time helping those less fortunate, there are a 1000 morons sitting in their houses and couches which they don't truly own, only provided to them by banks and a fake materialistic mindset. At this point I don't feel Human. Not at all, the life that I live doesn't feel natural, years I've spent in education, being encouraged by my peers and the Government to get a good job, live the same mundane shit life many others incur blindly. It's not funny anymore. From my perspective of western lives there is certain doom, how can it be? That money is far more important than being HUMAN! My fake encouraged dreams, aspirations, desire have all but faded, I want to do what I've always felt I should do, which is help other people, I am selfless, I am Altruistic
But there's no PROFITS to be made in altruism. Didn't they teach you that? Greed is where it's at, and damn everyone else & the planet. That is the Christian-Judeo Economic Mythology. God wants you to profit. Don't worry about the Earth, cause God is going to destroy it soon anyway. So go ahead and screw your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend, go fill the seas with oil cause you've been SAVED!
Theres nothing noble about it. Its still all self serving In the end relating to other people is the only thing thats important. Get wealthier than everybody else and they just end up getting bitchy and jealous. You want to try claim you are better than everybody else cos you want to help other people, thats bullshit, its still self serving, you do it so you dont get bored, so you go out there and socialise, get your ass off the couch, so you can think you are better than all those swept up by materialism, have yourself the little ego buzz when they fake thankyou. Some twit that blows half a years pay unneccesarily redecorating the kitchen, supporting certain industries, is helping the community just as much as the guy that volunteers at the soup kitchen
Sounds like you're ready to truely start your real life. You get to decide how you invest these years that are your life. Without doubt no matter where you are some little kid, old person, somebody needs you. Your REAL job is to find them and provide help however you can. Sometimes it's OK to work inside the system and make it better or subvert it and make it do what it should. Don't be ashamed to earn some money cause in truth lots of the help people need requires money and you will need some too. Thats a drag but also reality. At an anti -war ralley in 1969 a Professor of mine said that the protest of a war 7000 miles away was good and needed but also needed were people who would start making change right there in our own back yards. Your life is calling is all around you, you just gotta listen to what it's trying to say to you. Have fun, the adventure is just starting.
Did you go to private school? What job did you get? How about working in a soup kitchen helping the homeless?
head up a charitable organization and get the best of both worlds. you can say you work for an altruistic group while still making over $100,000 a year.
Well...in the end all you have is yourself. So being a little selfish is kind of necessary to survive.
You are the only person who decides who you are. The Government and Society are just your excuses for why you aren't the person you want to be.
I totally empathise with what you say, but you have one distinct advantage over me- you're half my age! So stop whining and start thinking about what the fuck you are going to do to live your life the way you want to.
This. Look after number one before you even think about anyone else, because that's what everyone else is doing.
