Hi, I recently turned 40 and I still like dancing/partying and all that good stuff. The problem is it seems that, in general, younger folk will look at you like you must be desperate just for showing up at a club or a party.

Do y'all find that hippie get-togethers tend to be more tolerant of all ages? Or, do older hippies tend to stick more to their own? To be frank, I'm cool hanging out with anyone who is open-minded, fun, and not mean-spirited. There's too few of those types in the first place...why in the world limit the pool even more by putting age restrictions on who you hang out with??

i have alot of acquaintances who i'll hang with if they have smoke and/or drink but not on a regular basis. as far as close friends, i have very few. that's the way i prefer it. i'm certainly no loner. it's just that in the part of the country i'm currently stuck in, there are few "currently practicing" hippies. they are the only ones i can relate to at any deeper level. that's just been my own personal experience. peace. paisley skye.

I have a lot of experience with modern hippiesque gatherings. In my experience people your age, and older, are always part of the festivities, sometimes in equal numbers to the younger ones. A lot of the older folks tend to get crazier on the dance floor because they no longer have an image to hold up.

I really enjoy interacting with my elders, I connect with them better than people my own age.

I think at gatherings that are considered hippie-ish, there is a lot of respect for the older generation...they started the whole thing, after all. Crowded trendy clubs are another story, but honestly why would anyone want to go to a crowded meat market, wait 30 minutes to order a drink and pay way too much for said drink? Thats not my cup of tea and i'm at the age where clubbing is supposed to be fun.

as far as parties, i like it when there is a good mixed age group. it keeps things interesting.

I've always been of the belief that you are only as old as the 'way' that you feel :)
I'm attracted to the spirit of youth, their aspiration and even innocent naivety.
    - Certainly their bodies can be impressive - it's only when I look in the mirror that I question if it be appropriate - ha :)
I find that with gatherings, having a similar mind-set is the most important aspect for mutual appreciation and indeed enjoyment. As we know, the picture does not tell the story, and the experiences of older to younger generations; and vice-versa, can be invaluable in its advice and awareness, for both parties. I don’t see age difference as a problem and view it more as an opportunity to remain young, in mind, spirit and indeed at heart

I don't see it as a problem either. I can get along with just about anyone ,but when I do hang,it's with my kids and their friends. They are in their 20s-30s. And I'm a dancin' fool. Well,at least part of that statement is true.

I love to talk to and hang out with my elders, but the thing is - 99% of the time I get snobbed for being younger than them

I remember 40 years ago me and some of my head buddies were hanging around the apartment - we were like 18 - 21 and another buddy came in with a friend. Turns out he was like 32 and we were all like WTF. Think he's a NARC?

Course in 68 - 72 being a freak was almost exclusively a young dude or dudette thing. Not a lot of experience for old farts to have except booze or horse. Nice to see youngsters wanting hear about those days.

When I read this thread the first thing that came to mind was this song:
It's just to bad that in this day and age it is still relevant. The lyrics are really good but the video ---well, it isn't very good.

Nerva, age ain't nothin' but a number, so the saying goes. I'm 27 and personally I enjoy hanging out with people who are a bit older than myself, my partner is 36. If you lived in Miami you could come chill with us, lol.

I dont ignore those who are not in my age group but I have zero interest in "kids" and while older folks at festivals is a common I typically make small talk and them am on my way. However men or women in there 40s and older at clubs specifically 18+ or all ages screams as loud as you can WEIRDO!
