It seems the person of the year is more about how much money one person is making for hundreds of other companies, all that damn advertising. The person of the year doesn't seem to ever be someone who did good for the world, helped the poor, donated, anything of that nature.
Does this mean we should be calling him Mark Fuckerberg? Edit: Note that this past year there were thousands of firefighters, police, military persons, doctors, vets and citizens who saved the lives of people and animals worldwide. Fuckerberg likely did none of these, so in reality, what does it take to be 'Person of the year'? Not much, so really his title means nothing.
He is a fucking joke. Like many others have said, Facebook is just one of many social networking groups. What about when everyone was using Twitter to talk about the Iranian elections (or whatever) was going on? What about Myspace? It was the networking site that put social networking on the map... Julian Assange should be the man of the year. I would even be ok with Bradley Manning as person of the year. I think it was either A.) A publicity stunt. B.) Motivated by profit C.) Done out of fear. Yes they had Stalin and Hitler as people of the year, but that was before everyone lost their spines and became politically correct twats.
What could possibly give you the idea that any aspect of the media would make any statement motivated by the sole purpose of profit.............
I think facebook is fucking awesome. You can ignore requests from ur little school peers you didn't like. I found my family from another country on there tht I haven't talke to in years. And I think facebook is waaay better and more popular then twitter
Is facbeook so awesome that its creator deserves recognition as the man of the year above EVERY other single person on this planet? FUCK NO.
i think liverwurst is waaay better and more popular than blood sausage i still wouldn't touch either one with a stick
At the end of the day the cover of any magazine, including Time Magazines person of the year, exists for one reason and one reason only. That is to sell copies of the magazine. With the buzz around the movie at the moment, a cover of Zuckerberg will sell. That is Time's objective and that they will do.
"What are the differences between Mark Zuckerberg and me? I give private information on corporations to you for free. and I'm a villain. Zuckerberg gives your private information to corporations for money, and he's Man of The Year" ~Julian Assange
That is very true what Julian says. Last time I was on facebook (over a year ago), the ad space on the right side of the page listed ads based on my profile interests. Facebook started out good. I joined when it was only available to college students back in early '05. One of many reasons it defeated myspace was because it had better secrecy. But now all that has become false.
