I did spend the money to produce about 100g of dried peruvian torch. Essentially I've heard this is good for roughly two decent doses if done with an alcohol extraction. I did place the alcohol extract over a pot of hot (not boiling over, just hot) water to remove all of the alcohol. Here is my question: in the pyrex pan, in the shape of the pot below it, is a sticky substance that is dark greenish black. Around the perimeter, it is a deeper green color and dryer. Should all of this be scooped together and mixed? From what I have read, with an alcohol extraction what you can get in the end can vary from a sticy tar to a powder, and it looks like I got a little of both. Any advice on this would be appreciated. I WILL definitely do an A/B extract next time around--I ideally want to know the precise amount I am taking.
Heat drying of alcohol extractions neither needed nor recommended; under a fan in a well ventilated place is more than enough. You want everything in the Pyrex pan; once the alcohol smell is gone, and no running liquid remains, collect residue and consume. Efficacy is a function of genetics and amount consumed, but I can personally assure you that high dose won't kill you. 50 grams is a reasonable start, even if genetics has given you the mother of all cacti, which is very unlikely. Even with a successful a/b or stb extraction your dose won't measure clean due to the presence of 6 other psychoactive alkalines in the final product. An alcohol extraction is simple, direct, inexpensive and hard to mess up by adding more steps. I predict you will find 50 grams satisfactory but psychedelically a bit underpowered. But that dose will help determine the power of your source, and subsequent dose selections.
