ok some of you think it's wrong and degrading to watch passion of christ because it "makes fun of jesus" so what are your opinions on war films or dramas based on true stories (suppose schindler's list is one, never seen it)? some people don't approve of passion of christ because it has violence.....well that's how it happened. jesus died after 6 hours on the cross (while on the average it takes 2 to 3 days with lungs slowly building up with fluid thus suffocating the person, unless they break the legs of the person so death happens quicker) so that means he was subject to intense violence. and it's stupid to deny the existence of jesus since there is proof of his existence and even his 'miracles'. truth or comfortable feeling for the moment?
Yeah good point about the violence, but then I'm guessing those people wouldn't watch violent war movies eithier. Can't imagine the horrific death of anyone makes comfortable viewing. Perhaps some people just like to thing of Jesus in a positive light and feel uncomfortable with he being portrayed as so obviously human. Maybe that's not such a big deal with mere mortals in war movies. We can't honestly know what happened, it's just Mel Gibson's interpretation of the Bible. Unless of course you were there personally (kinda doubt that) I can't really coment on the content. Having never seen the movie. Don't plan to eithier as it's of no particular interest to me, as a non Christian. (I have the utmost respect for Christianity, but it's just not for me)
thats a silly reason... and sage phoenix, its kinda refreshing to see a non-christian who does have respect for it, cos there are many who just slate it... peace to you. Jaz
we know about the brutality because of roman historical records that explain how crusifixion was done. and roman soldiers were notorious for their brutality. it's not thinking jesus in a negative light, just an acceptance that he suffered just like any human.
ya didnt have to apologize, but I just cant follow a movie as well as I could if it didnt have subtitles
ahh i see yeah i thought i wouldn't have been able to understand it if i was watching the subtitles all the time, but i needn't have worried as you kinda forget about them, but still take them in?? dunno how that works but it does!
ha at what? obviously you don't know that there are records of the existence of jesus outside "christian" records including roman and jewish records. the jewish records also mention jesus using 'black magic'
