The biggest Mafia bust in New York history is taking place today. FBI agents are rounding up more than 100 members of NY mafia families for various crimes including gambling, loan sharking, union corruption and murder. All the main NYC mafia families are involved. Officials said significant leaders and associates of the Gambino, Genovese, Lucchese, Bonanno, Colombo and DeCavalcante families among those being arrested. There was no mention at all of drugs. Is the mafia no longer in the drug trade? http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/loca...t-FBI-Rounding-Up-100-Mobsters-114266444.html
Too bad the mafia just flourished for so long that it builded up too much momentum in our culture to ever not exist.
Meh. If the US hadn't invited them to the US with prohibition, we wouldn't have this problem. If the US didn't ignore the lesson of alcohol prohibition, and keep trying to call this a free country, while establishing "morality" laws about things like gambling, sex, and drugs, we wouldn't have this problem today.

I think the Mafia could have been eliminated long ago. They've known who they are--they know who they are. There must be a reason it hasn't been done. COUGH-money COUGH-COUGH.
This is a game that has been going on for decades. It's give and take. Somebody didn't give so somebody took!! At least with the Mafia you know the rules. With the U.S. Government the rules are never the same and always changing.
