Ok so am I crazy? Will they take my kids away? What do you think a doctor will do/put me on? I have 2 boys, one is 5 years and the other is 3 1/2 months. When my older son was 2 we were playing on the fllor and we had garden windows( really close to ground). Anyway he drove a hotwheel on the window and pused the whole window out and fell 2 stories. now Im not sure if its bc of that and I could had a form on PTSD, but I OBSESS that something horrible will happen to my babies. I think about it so much I cant sleep and Ill put myself into a panic attack. Ive tried various breathing methods and relaxion techniques and none seem to help. Theres sooooo much that triggers the thoughts. Anyway been here before or have suggestions? I have an appointment with phychrist but the wait for an appt is unbareable! PLEAS HELP!
You are suffering from anxiety which brings on the panic attacks. There are some really good advice sites on the internet to help you understand what is happening to you. Please realise that nothing bad is going to happen to you or your children! When is your appointment with the psychiatrist. He/she will prescribe you something to help but you should see a psychologist as well who will help you deal with the symptoms and give you lots of practical advice! Keep us informed please!
Thanks for the input! I have to go to group therapy 1st then the phychrits sees me. Weird. So im not dure when I actually see the doctor. My therpy in on Monday the 25th. What do you think the doc will prescribe me? Please dont tell me Visteril or Buspar...neither work! I dont know what else to do! I had xanax when my dad passed away and it worked wonders, but i know thats addicting so i dont want to just come out and ask. Although the doc im seeing will prescribe anything. I want him to give me what he thinks will work, not what I ask for. Ya know? Do you know what the sites are? I tried to google it and didnt really come up with anything. My I wasnt putting in the right words to expain it to the google monster!
Type- stress and anxiety self help guide - into Google and it will come up with a load of stuff. The first one is a British health service guide and is excellent. Good luck with that! By the way your doctor should only prescribe on a short term basis, the key is to come to terms with your illness not mask the symptoms with medication. Good luck with the group. It will be a hell of a relief to find that their are others in the same boat!
Find a nutritionist and consult with them. There are natural remedies for many things, and it's best to go natural instead of infest your body with all sorts of disgusting chemicals.
This is a good website I have found helpful in the past. http://www.takethislife.com It's a depression forum that has a lot of topics, anxiety being one of them.

Have you tried biofeedback? I have PTSD and went through various therapies and medications over a 5-year period, and biofeedback ended up being my silver bullet. It helped me to recognize my body's elevated states and bring myself back down. I have also found that yoga is very helpful, too. I still have my moments, but they are nowhere near as bad as they used to be. Good luck, sweetie. I'm pulling for you.
This is very good advice. I was diagnosed with PTSD and two forms of anxiety a couple of years ago. I was placed on a lot of different medications but all they did was make the problem worse. I started meeting with a social worker and she gave me tools to manage the feelings when they start to come up. About ten months ago I stopped taking my medication, started meditation, and even though the symptoms of these disorders come up they are not a severe because I know what to look for to stop it in its tracks. It is more of a bother now then a life-crippling issue.
I have Neuro-feedback, more like. They hook up these electrodes and they find certain frequencies and recalibrate your brain. Or something like that. At first I thought it was nonsense. Another gimmick to take advantage of folks. Well, after a few months, it has proven itself well. That stuff works great!
