What makes a song too feminine?
Are there any songs you like that are clearly aimed towards women/girls?
Do you ever feel ashamed listening or singing along with these sorta songs?

And whatever questions I didn't ask on the topic :)

    Deerhoof
    The Cardigans
    Mice Parade
    Cranes
    ^^all great bands

A lot of these indie shoegazing bands have for many years adopted a very girly sound, it seems to work well with screaming grunge guitars for some reason.

Take the band Cranes for instance, who combine the sweet angelic vocals of Shaw Shaw with screaming guitars, a sort of interesting balance between musical styles that take the feminine and masculine to the extreme. The reciprocal of this would be something like Tom Araya from Slayer screaming along to twinkle twinkle little star, which i don't think would quite work so well.

I'm not a guy, but if you are singing along to a song and it says anything about, "My man", "This boy", "He", or "I have cramps like a fucking bitch", it's likely too feminine.

These songs are clearly girly, but I don't give a shit, they're good songs. She has a good voice too. I'm not ashamed at all.

Thanks man. I appreciate the effort, but I know you have a lot of your own things to be ashamed of. I could never ask you to be ashamed for me on top of all that.

    Thanks though :)

I like all types of music and I can definitely get behind a good female voice. I like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and numerous other female singers...I am not ashamed to say I like it. One of my friends will only listen to music sung by men and tried to give me a dirty look. I turned it around as saying I would rather imagine those female singers are singing about me...lol

It can be funny if you have a really bad song on the radio in the summer and you know people heard it at a stop light. I wouldn't say I'm ashamed.

    Gotta wonder about that.

Been getting into a bit of smooth jazz rhythms recently from the likes of these sheilas. Have to draw the line at Sade, but these ladies have definitely got style.

Sia Furler, Liz Janes, Joan As Policewoman, Britta Persson anyone?
