I have a cheap electric guitar that i mess around from time to time. Im really bad though I was forced to play a recorder in I think 2nd grade, fucking hated it. I grew up with four guys who got together everyday and play. One of my oldest friends still plays drums. He is very very good, its just hard to make it playing music. Tough field.. He still trying though. I was always the guy in the group who collected the music that we would play on the stero. I have over 8,000 songs and i have lost several hundred at least... Hopefully this summer i will get some vinyl turn tables and a mixer very expensive though...I would love to spin at the bars here where i live. Im trying to get on the radio which is very hard... Im also learning to make beats with Logic Pro on Mac, program is so big, taking me forever to learn. Anyways who here plays an instrument. All are welcome :2thumbsup:
i've logic pro 8. it is really hard to find the time to figure it out perfectly. but yeah, i play a few instruments. of course, guitar is my weapon of choice - but i'm trained to play piano as well, and dabble with bass, drums, trombone, recorder, harmonica whatever really. the irony is as i have gotten older and learned the ins and outs of music, i have become somewhat bored of it. i just listen to the radio now.
Does the kazoo count? I play a recorder in like 4th grade too, i added a solo to hot cross buns and blew my music teachers mind, i was a recorder prodigy.... Really i'll try to play anything, my sister has a violin and claronet, both are extremely hard to play, way harder than they look, but i "play" them..lol I play the guitar too, not that great but its fun.
I got logic pro 9. Got it back in september. Not sure how many differences are between them. My guess is how many sounds you can use.
i had a clarinet, someone fucking stole it outta my garage. when i replace it i might get a colored one, they are awesome. when i moved out here to CO the bands were negligible in school, so i switched to singing. my middle school in NY had an awesome band, i got an outstanding at NYSSMA as well. when i moved there just werent enough people interested in instruments. i also play the recorder, and its not great, but i like it. i want to learn how to play the guitar, but i have short fingers that are kind of hard to position, so it may be a fruitless effort.
I play guitar and enjoy playing around with drums and bass but would not say that I play them. I'm interested in joining a band but I have two big issues that are preventing me from doing so. The first issue, there isn't really a music scene around here, this is the lesser of the two issues. The second issue, I only have an acoustic as of right now, due to some tough situations I was forced to sell both of my electric guitars and all of the equipment I had with them so being in a band is going to have to wait until both of these issues are resolved.
same here! i just deleted the whole program though cuz i dont normally take the time to attempt learning and it took too much room on my comp. what i have found with that though is that you can find some real cool plugins online that can inspire experimentation. one plugin i downloaded was a wobbler and it was super fun to mess around for a while. i've also been playing trombone since 5th grade. i stopped 2 years ago but i'd love to pick one up again. what qualifies what can be played though? cuz i can play piano and most brass instruments, but cant read the music.
i play alot of drums, more so focused on hand drums. i love djemebe, i can get more tones out of djemebe then i can my drum kit, and i go wild. i love hand percussion, it just has so much feeling to it. i dabble onbass here and there its fun. for the last few weeks ive been messing around in FL studios running through you tube tutorials and such. learning how to make some dubstep. its pretty fun, its really challanging, and take alot of time looking at the computer. though just like anything with a little bit of pratice you can do anything. ive made a few tracks. so far this is my 4th track, actually using peices of my other tracks to put this one togeather. i just like making alot of beats and stuff but. i learned how to do some dubstep on fl studio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBWg6PJI8R0"]YouTube - floes dubb my dubstep track. im currently working on a lion king circle of life dubstep remix haha. should be pretty sharp when its done. but. still learning. its a pretty basic track.
i try toplay that torture device calld the guitar, i put alot of time into that and i still cant play. Iam garbage. Oh well though...Iam thinking aobut picking up the piano, sick instrument.
i suggest if your into making beats and stuff give fl studio a try. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpnaPWrO1FY&feature=channel"]YouTube - Hard aggressive Hip-Hop {RAP} Gangsta Instrumental (Fl Studio) just use torrents u ca h4xx0r it so easy
I looked into studio and decided not to. A friend recommed it for various reasons. Now that i have logic I don't really want to take the time to start on another one. Not to mention Logic was very expensive and I can't send it back anymore. None the less i've heard great things from studio.
I play guitar like crazy, always learning or trying to learn a new song. My (main) equipment: Washburn/Oscar-Schmidt - Delta King Cutaway Electric guitar Digitech GNX4 Guitar Workstation w/ built-in 8-track recorder and loop capability Crate... umm wanna say 10-watt amp? could be 12, never really looked up the specs on it I also have a small, full-body Epiphone electric, a Fender Squire w/o the whammy bar and a BC Rich w/ tremolo bar. My style ranges from rock to folk to blues, but I love just jamming out and creating loops jamband style. I've got two websites I work with. MySpace: www.myspace.com/anonymoussubspecies YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/Dregann2190?feature=mhum Lots of Grateful Dead-related material and some of my own original works. Picking up an instrument was one of the best things I've ever done. It relieves stress and without it (and music of the Grateful Dead) I don't really want to know where I'd be today. Probably a dark and scary place. Kudos to all my fellow jammers, and nice post! XD btw, my Washburn looks a lot like the blue guitar in the Further poster below... without the uber-cool lightning bolt cutout tho. Just a traditional paisley cutout. Great playability and action. Creates harmonious chords and awesome for a few solos. Never took a lesson in my life, I just pick up my guitar and play! Somehow, I just feel out the notes. The best thing you can do as a starting guitar player is put on your favorite song and try to play WITH it... eventually, you'll figure out the notes if your tuning is right.
i mostly play the banjolele nowadays: http://www.janetdavismusic.com/images/banjolele_22.jpg (the pic is pretty big, i wont post it on here. too lazy to try and resize it) tuned and played just like a ukulele but has a banjo body. it's still only about the size of a ukulele, though. it's pretty awesome - totally has made music way more fun than i ever thought it could be. i've recorded some stuff (nothing original, just fun songs to play) and have performed here and there. played the baritone and tuba/sousaphone for about 13 years, guitar for about 11-ish years, banjo for a couple and the banjolele for about 2 years now. i'll pick up my banjo and guitar here and there, but i mostly just play the banjolele. next on the menu is the mandolin... love the fullness in sound that it has
i play guitar a lot... i have been playing since i was a little kid. i thought i was a real hot motherfucker on guitar when i was a little kid... hahaha i play ukulele a ton too. i love to blow minds on ukulele.
I play guitar, piano, harp, and the ukulele is pretty easy once you know how to play guitar. Mostly I sing opera/classical though. My favorite is to just play the guitar and sing anything.
Hey, came back upon this post in my User CP. Recently, I took up playing bass which is pretty fun having something else to fiddle with other than just the guitar. It's got a much different feel too it and I wanna say it's more of a body-oriented instrument, as you tend to play differently with slap and pick maneuvers (a little slap n pickle?! lol). Oh, and I wanted to bump this thread.
my fingers hurt from playing guitar today.. its a bitch to phase amp mixers to a pa system to new speakers , i mean it sounds 100 times different than a guitar amp. feeding effect processors to pa, and then moving your gear around to other amps, fucks with the ears. then pa system has a mind of its own when it comes to reverb and all your presets sounds fucked up all over again... :willy_nilly:
