Odd question, does everyone here get their dreads wet every time they shower or do you wear a shower cap? I'm a bit annoyed that it's been 6 and a half months and I am still itchy and flaky! I wash my hair about twice a week - every 4 to 5 days - with rosemary tea+bi carb and wear a shower cap every other day. I have no idea how not getting my hair wet as often would make my scalp worse, but maybe there is some explanation.

maybe the water is too hot, which could overdry your scalp
idk, rosemary tea solved all my scalp problems

I wash mine about twice a week, my scalp is better than usual atm, but it does tend to wax and wane between too dry and a broken oily mess.

I often wonder about the correlation between washing frequency and loose hairs, I've been told in the past that washing more frequently will help lock in loose hairs, but on the other hand it would also seem to be the closest thing I do to brushing which one would assume would have the opposite effect.

I would say that after a wash, my dreads are looser.
Currently battling flakes so I'm gonna try changing what I do a little and washing a bit more regularly.

    Yeah I've got dandruff atm.

Pre dreads I tended to get huge flakes (which apparently could "put out a mouses eye") but now I have dreads I seem to have the more conventional light dusting of talc like flakes. I was thinking of trying head & shoulders / T-gel / whatever for a week or 2 and see did it help.

When I don't have dreads I wash with H&S every day, no flakes at all. Need a residue free, less often solution!

I had dandruff when I was using too much shampoo too often. Maybe the bicarb mix is too saturated? Try with water and rosemary, see if that helps. And maybe try increasing the days between washing, to say once a week.

Whoa, wash more, wash less, everyone is so different haha. The water is definitely not too hot as I leave the rosemary to steep over night to get it nice and concentrated. But like I washed yesterday and I am already an itchy mess, I think it even made it worse. And I have a horrible habit of scratching/picking which then loosens hairs and makes frizzy dreads and it's all just a bitch of a cycle. My scalp even gets like red and stings sometimes. Oh dear...

No lice. And I've been eating rosemary my whole life, if my stomach can take it, my scalp can. Otherwise it should harden the fuck up. I had dandruff before dreads and only TGel fixed it, H&S made it worse.

I brought some H&S earlier and have just showered with it. I'll give it a couple of weeks / washes and report back.

I use t gel when my scalp gets all itchy it seems to help. I also have a residue free bar shampoo with like Rosemary and some other stuff I can't remember that I use. That I got from this chick I know that makes soaps and shampoos and junk. Anyways, t gel or something along those lines might help. Sorry I rambled...

TGel doesn't slowly detangle your dreads? Do you use both the tgel and residue free at the same time or what?

I'm giving H&S 2 big thumbs up right now, scalp is in great nick, huge dandruff reduction, dreads haven't fallen out yet (although they have only had about 4 washes with it)
