yeah facebook is pretty retarded. its like 3 colors. and its ugly as fuck, and its so conformed, you have no freedom to design. its just like the system man. its nasty.

    tumblr is much better.

    http://floes.tumblr.com/

its more focused around nice pictures, and sharing thoughts. like a traditional blog.

I deleted my facebook a while back. I thought I'd miss it, but I feel kind of proud to be like one of 5 people in my school who doesn't have one :)

i deleted my facebook a couple years back. i didn't use it for several months and reactivated it. unless they changed it, it doesn't ever really get deleted permanantly. i got it originally to talk to my sister. it helps to keep in contact with friends and family. i use it to promote my band, too. i hate all the drama that comes with it, but it's a handy communication tool.

There is no getting out of facebook. Even after closing your account they keep all your information and pictures forever. The only way out is in a box or a bag.

The only way to really delete your account is by deleting each and every post, message, photo, anything that you ever wrote or otherwise created on there. Even then they likely have all your information in a database (for backup purposes, naturally)

I think as long as you use common sense, it's fine - just don't put anything too sensitive on there. I think Facebook is great, it allows me to message my friends around the world easily, without needing a long list of email adresses, and I can share my photos.

You can delete Facebook for good, not just disable it. I'm afraid to post the direct link to the form in which to do it for fear of spamming, though. It takes a couple of weeks to become "final" but I deleted my first Facebook awhile ago. I failed and got another one later on because I lost touch with all my friends, lol.

I had a Facebook account since early 05. I used to use it all the time.

About a year ago, I stopped giving a shit about my 266 "friends" as it had been well over a year since I graduated college. I stopped caring about what everybody was doing. My closest friends weren't posting much. And those who posted every 20 minutes I never cared for in the first place. I abandoned my facebook. I know I may return to it again someday. It helped me reconnect with a friend from 8 years ago when I was traveling in Europe. He let me stay at his flat in Milan. It was great.

But I got sick of everythning else.

That's the problem when you have 266 friends. If you let it get out of hand, it does get out of hand. I have people I know and want to keep in touch with on mine. I don't keep in touch with the people I don't want to keep in touch with. Easy.
