    Eh, I doubt you have reason to worry about getting in shit. Though I'd be more concerned about that one line if anything;

Some Canadian kid hacked some political something or rather years ago. He was 17 or so.

Afterwards he bragged about it on the internet in some forum where people discuss that crap. They caught him that way. The guy went to jail for a few years.

I almost wrote something similar but didn't want to start another battle.

What i can recommend is read read read everything on Technology surrounding computers and understanding whatever system you want to hack inside and out.

By hacking do you mean in the destructive or constructive variant of the word?

Either way you should start writing, reading, testing, etc code. Contribute to some open source projects maybe. Try and expand your skillset and knowledge.
HTML and SQL are trivial and not really programming at all, frankly. C and variants are a good start.

Maybe you should look into what exactly you want to get good at first :).. hacker is just such a loosely used term! Without going into details on all of this (forum rules sorry) it sounds like you are trying to just "hack" your way into websites or web servers. Let's say clear this right now.. it's illegal unless you have the permission from the web admin to try to crack their security. Yes there is such a thing as a ethical hacker :) There are "hackers" out there who do it for a living and get paid a pretty good amount actually lol.

Like others have mentioned.. just read, read and then read a little more about whatever topic that interest you! Hacking after all is nothing more then to find a backdoor (error, mistake or whatever you want to call it) in the system that you are trying to get into and to be able to do that you have to know the system good enough to detect the problem. If you really want to advance with this then look into some more advanced computer languages and then go from there :)

    Just my 2cents lol.

    I would recommend bragging less.
What you're so "boasting" about is the kind of first steps 13 years old boys figure out after a couple of days on the computer, if interested in "hacking" at all.
Next step: boast about downloading a Windows version of some cheap SYN flood tool advertised as "DDOS" on "hackforums.net" to break all connections to some mediocre (most likely home-hosted) website and executing it properly (yes.... double-clicking and pasting in IP....)..

This is quite simple to understand, but not to accept: the easy parts are always easy and almost anyone can learn it, the hard parts tend to be boring, and therefor almost no one learns it.
"Real", self-discovered "hacking", "playing" I prefer to call it, or 'experimenting', is achieved either by: 1) Being determined, because you care so god damn much about getting there, or
    2) Finding a different way to learn it. This includes, for example:
    a) The golden ass-hair-option... having friends who are willing to teach you (requires you to either have patient (on the edge of insanely "stupid") friends, or you to be fairly intelligent/quick-learning & curious & learn somewhat fast yourself too)
    b) The tutorial way. Tend to be boring and not really too descriptive, usually the kind of assembly-instructions; you won't learn to make your own chair, just putting it together.
    c) The slow way... This has been my path... Unfortunately.. It is the path you must take when all other fail. What it basically is is: doing whatever that teach you something in small doses (slowly) everytime you have excessive motivation/energy. BY YOURSELF, of course, 'cus no-one cares or has the time to be concerned about your problems.

I've always hoped for the A) option, but that it wouldn't need to be friends, just "LAN parties" or whatever. Unfortunately I've discovered that it's not like Hollywood portraits it - those cool computer nerds are so rare they're practically non-existant (well, here I am....). Most LAN-parties consist of gaming... idiots... Usually playing pop-games that even your 11 years old little brother plays.
I always imagined it like peeps like myself just getting together busting their heads together and have a fucking good time, and just stay up as much as they %&)#ing want. I've heard it happens. But it did not to me. Meh.... This is making me fed-up...
