    ... now I'm in jail.

Music can be an amazing creative outlet and passtime, but what happens when people take lyrics to heart? It can either be good or bad depending on the music. I've noticed that the more I listen to something, the more it influences my everyday thoughts and comments. I think that I am a diffrent person now than I would have been if I never listened to any music, and I think overall I've changed for the better. Classic rock (The Beatles, etc.) taught me about passionate love, and then about how much it sucks to lose it. Psychedelic rock (Grateful Dead, Phish, etc.) taught me about opening my mind and enjoying life for what it is. Reggae taught me to love and respect God and his gifts to us. It also taught me respect for everything. Techno and dubstep showed me the crazier side of both music and life. Finally, rap (my most recent intrest. I love all the classics, Biggie, D12, NWA, etc.) taught me about the darker side of life and music. They put to words all the pain, rage, and hate that I've ever felt. It's like they knew exactly what was going through my mind. Rap also taught me to not take stuff so seriously, to ease up and chill out. After all, it's not the end of the world...

How has music influenced YOUR life? For good, or bad?

That's a quote from D12's "When the Music Stops", right?

Yea music has had a huge influence on my life. At times its made me hit the freeway at dangerous speeds, had an influence on drug intake, kept me sane from bullies during childhood, and even given food to the homeless on thanksgiving.

It has not taken over my life in the sense that ima rob this mothafucka make him take his shoes off before i put a cap in his ass. Naa not like that. Music has taught me to look at the world differently though, thats for damn sure.

Im a huge Bone Thugs-N-Harmony fan. Bong helped me when i was in the city, walking the streets at night, what to look out for. Keeping both eyes looking in different places. Lingo when talking with other ethnicities, looking at everyone as a human, and not as thing.

Some quotes i live by, from Bone

Krayzie - "Momma told me watch yo friends, they can be enemies within, quick to pretend, once they in, they will put it all to an end"

Layzie - "Lord help me make up my mind, which way do i turn when there is so much stress around me daily, this world is so cruel and shady, and i really miss my family."

Bizzy - "When you in the club drunk and you think you see a punk, he just might have a pump in the trunk ready to fuck you uuuppp."

Flesh - "Don't be sad, I will come back, for now I am gone"

Wish - "Nothing comes for free"

Very few musicians lyrics talk about struggle, coming from nothing, to something, not selling themselves out.

People that believe in modern hip-hop sensibilities scare the shit out of me.

I think music (and all media) definitely influences some more than others; and for me, I feel that music has mostly opened me up, made me more creative, and helped me get in touch with my emotions; but hasn't had much influence on me aside from that.

But, I did grow up with a teenage brother, and maybe some would attribute my hot-bloodedness to grunge, metal, and first-person shooters

Yeah, I love that song, it inspired this post lol. It's a really great song, and I urge you to listen to it if you haven't for some reason. It basically justifies everything that they say in other songs. All that crazy shit is not literal, but is for the most part hyperbole, which is exageration for dramatic effect. It's justto drive the main point or general theme home. I love D12, and Eminem, they've helped me articulate feelings I've had, and provided a release-listening to all kinds of fucked up shit helps me releive stress and anger and all of that. I dunno, not to be a "Stan", but I really feel like I can relate to certian songs on an unexplicibly deep level.
