After being out of work for a little more than a year I finally got a job at the Tedeschi's down the street from my house. I'm psyched, I've been everywhere I can think of in a 10 mile radius from my house and have no luck until now. I'm going in Monday to fill out the paperwork and make this thing official, I can't wait to start! I'm so happy. Also I was standing in front of the counter waiting to talk to the manager and look down. In a starburst box I saw a small blue round thing and I was like "no, it can't be" I bent over and picked it up and sure enough it was a perc 30. I am in a better mood now than I have been in a long time. :2thumbsup: arty:
Thank you! And I plan on sticking with it and going above and beyond the call of duty, lol. It's taken me a long time to find this job so I definitely can't afford to fuck it up.
aww goodjob dude... good for you in no time you will be like, "oh fuck! this sucks! i gotta go to work! what a drain on my life!" ...... but that will come later... enjoy your happiness... im happy for you
been out of work for almost a year, and i just found three jobs... so i'm workin three jobs and going to school full time. i barely have the time to smoke a bowl and relax anymore
With the real unemployment rate at close to 16% and not the politically expedient lie of between 9% and 10% landing a good job is itself noteworthy. Nothing like a scarcity of something to enhance its worth... supply and demand. I've worked with too many people steeped in the mindset that jobs are easy to come by which reflects itself in the effort they're unwilling to put forth. It adds to my general opinion that culturally what the US desperately needs is another great depression. There are way too many people out there apparently operating from the mind set that a job is something society owes to them. Well done dmob12... be reasonable with yourself and don't establish a pace that you cannot sustain but this is the best approach moving forward- show with your actions (and NOT your words) that you are a valuable asset who does not require supervision. In a year's time Tedeschi's can look back to their decision to hire you as one of the best things they could have done. This may not be a career but it can be one hell of a reference for what will be. The age of being selective in who gets hired is upon us... and it's best regarded as the "new normal" and not a bump in the road the US is destined to recover from. As an alternative to the above perhaps you can draw off your year plus period of unemployment as a filter to process work inconveniences through and be thankful you have a job to complain about. You will have accomplished something if one of your boss's biggest fear is losing you to another employer. Every day is an opportunity to market yourself anew.
