What is the meaning behind your user name?

Somehow things seem a little "heavy" in here of late....so I wondered if anyone would like to take part in a silly thread?

I'll start, my user name is Moominmamma, and as those of you who are Scandanavian probabley already know,Moominmamma is the mother troll in the childrens series of Moomin books by the Finnish author Tove Jansson. For me Moominmamma is the ultimate hippy mother, she always sets a place at the table for her familys' strange and unpredictable friends but remains true to her very individual self.....my husband has always called me Moominmamma as a pet name:& so I thought I would use it on these forums.

 

i don't really know where comes my nick from, well my name is Miguel, so it's obvious, but i don't when did i turn it into migle, but i like it and i use it widely.

And it's not a silly thread, i think it's more ingenous than many other threads over here.

I haven't analyzed the lyrics of "A wolf at the door" by Radiohead, but I like the song.

But I also like the metaphor. A wolf at a door can be a threat to the little family (an often used metaphor in lullabys). I've often wondered why old fairytales never try to understand the darkness. They're very black/white, but the evil always represent the id (Grimm, for instance). Old folk fairytales are very psychological. A wolf at door can also be a little skinny dog, begging for food. That's another metaphor, but the two metaphors don't exclude eachother. That double-aspect is fascinating, and that's why I chose my nick!

I was going thru a Marley period when I joined this place

 

I developed mine for Napster when I was living in California. I have always been fascinated by the sea, in particular the deep ocean where the animals never see sunlight. 66 is my favorite number.

 

I came up with squawkers7 when I started using yahoo in 1998 because I have 7 kids that at one time or another all squawked about something. So now I use that same name for almost everything online.

Anyhoo... Mine comes obviously from Janis Joplin and the Kozmic Blues. I like the sound of Kozmic Blues, I just shortened the blues for a bit and it turned out fine coz blue is my favourite color.

 

my nick is sanscrit and means "blessing"

I have short hair, shave my face, and have fairly consistant right wing philosophies, however, there is this constant, very loud, voice of compassion in my head. I believe that it's the hippie in my head.

 

well, the origin of my user name thing is Blind Melon, because it was the first CD I saved up for an bought myself.

My nick was simply stolen from the title of a Joy Division song. Not my favourite song of theirs, but good enough, and since I was born only a few days after it was first recorded (beginning of May 1978), I thought it was an appropriate choice. The name also made me think of the cave scenario in Plato's The Republic, which I always seem to get back to in one way or another.
