I have a cabin in the Alaska bush that needs someone living in it until next fall. This is NOT a paid position. It is a chance for a person/couple/friends to try out living in the wilderness. The cabin: two-story about 300sf of floor space. There's a very large picture window upstairs, and a nice woodstove to keep everything nice and warm. Location: About 100 miles West of Talkeetna, near the Yentna River in South-Central Alaska. No roads. No stores. No civilization for many miles. There is cell-phone service! And Internet!! (OK, just dial-up speed - 56k, but it works) Access is by AIRCRAFT ONLY. Neighbors: None for more than a mile in any direction... unless you count the MANY wild animals in this area (People who plan to kill everything that moves need not apply). I can provide the "How do I fix this?" support, but persons at this location really need to be able to live a "make do or do without" lifestyle. This is my homestead I have held since 1996, and I would be living there now, but my girlfriend is very sick (Lupus). I'll post more details, and answer questions on this thread. Please watch my videos to get a better idea of the living conditions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWJDm-O6IAA"]YouTube - Flight to Cookiecache Homestead 0001 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t97hSceq3KI&feature=related"]YouTube - Go Wild! Im interested. It is only accessible by plane or could someone with experience 4wheel it there?(I dislike puddle-jumpers)
It is only accessible by plane during summer. I suppose one could walk in during winter... but it would take 2~3 weeks if you're in really good shape (no trails of any kind).
oh, man oh, man! stemtimic lupus is such super nasty shit!:ack2: i am so sorry that your gf has been struck down with that vile shit. i hope she is able to get back some amount of a good quality life again. i was the caretaker of my grandparents remote cabin for 3 years. that was in the northland iron range of minnesota. i wish i could help you out mate however, i can't be away from texas for that long a time. good luck to both you and your gf... i wish you both the very best!
