You raise a good point but I agree with creedlespeek and think the op is full of shit or she actually gets diagnosed from the same doctor that prescribes her medical marijuana. There is no diagnosis for manic depression anymore and there may be a discrepancy made between alcohol dependency and drug dependency but certainly not cocaine and polydrug dependency. The reason I chose to respond to your post is because its a double edge sword, there is alot of money to be made that's true but people with real severe mental illness do like having a name given to their condition. It helps the individual understand the illness better and makes them not have an extreme sense of isolation that often accompanies many severe disorders.
Yes there is. it's now called bi-polar disorder. Manic Depressive was changed because it doesn't sound PC, and is a misleading term.. though some in the field do still use it in referance to the symptoms.
No they don't. Diagnosis come from the (dsm) diagnostic and statistic manual of mental disorders, which is continuously updated to include pc terms and new variations of mental illness and drops outdated diagnosis. No reputable doctor is going to diagnose you with a disorder that is not in the dsm.
I feel the need to mention that as I have always been informed, manic depression involves longer swings into true depression, my dad seems to have it (undiagnosed, he won't go near a shrink, for good reason) and it involves swings that last weeks, months, or years, and when you're swung UP, you're still a bit depressed/stressed. It's basically depression with occasional relief. I've known bi-polars, and their swings would be minute to minute, hour to hour, day to day, and often the "down" would involve aggression, and generally being disagreeable, tantrums, and the like, while the "up" would be radiant hyperactivity, all grins, etc. But neither seem to describe the OP. OP seems to be a fuzion of social anxiety and attention whoring.
Something has made Jessica fearful and self-hating. Sometimes that's caused by the body's own chemistry, but it's very often the bi-product of 'shaming' as well.
Stop enabling her, take your "empathy" somewhere else. A fucking teenager who identifies herself as a "strung out girl" in a gloating fashon isn't self hating or fearful. She just wants people like you to "empathize" with her. Again, she's GLOATING about what a failure she is. Which is eactly why she IS a failure, she can stand in front of an amtrak for all the world cares or all the world would lose, because of how people like you help her feel "kewl" for this. /extreme cynicism. But it's true.
You know what, RooRshack? Neg-repping is for douchebag fairies. Telling me to stfu with some wimpy little neg-rep whining is fucking weak.
It's there for a reason. you're enabling the OP, and for that you need less reputation. Grow the balls to deal with it.
Not arguing one way or another but if the intent is to educate someone there's a way of going about it that will more likely see your words taken more seriously instead of coming across as though you just want to show how much smarter you think you are. If the OP is really looking for help then it might be useful to consider that she is coming across as though she's proud of her neuroses and her language seems to be that of a person seeking enablers.
HEY id realy like add your msn can you give me ? ...i am an pot smoker but i didnt take any chemical drug because its not...natural XD
OP, you might want to do a search for self-harm related web sites, or sites that deal with mental health issues. Also, you can check out some resources on this thread http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=408548&f=383 unfortunately, this site is often a bad place to go to look for help or sympathy. all too often, folks here will rip into someone looking for help. My personal opinion on the subject is that a sticky thread should be added to the top of this forum (as well as the "all in the family" forum), titled "NO HARASSMENT, STRICTLY ENFORCED". The content of the sticky should say something like "This forum is intended as a source of support and information for people who are suffering from a mental illness, or who have questions about mental illness. While rude or harassing posts on other forums are also actionable, such posts on this forum will be dealt with more harshly. Please do not make rude or harassing posts here, and please report any such posts that you may find on this forum". To my knowledge, no one that has posted so far is qualified to comment on whether you do or don't have a mental illness, or what your motives are in posting here. It sounds to me like you are in a lot of pain right now, and you are not getting the support here that you deserve. You may want to see a therapist. You may also want to see a psychiatrist to get some medication. While there's lots to criticize about meds, if you have manic depression (aka bi-polar), meds are probably a good idea.
