I'm beginning to think that what's happening in Egypt is just a mass of insane people that need some help. Their demands are being met, yet they still continue to riot and rally, killing people and destroying things. They need to seriously smoke a joint and chill the fuck out
No offence, but it sounds like you don't put very much thought into human nature and cause/effect.... Or the gravity of those effects....
If a democracy--a real one -is to be formed, then the first item on the agenda is to make sure that all parties can be heard in all debates and all published material for NO MONEY. Otherwise ,they will end up with a corporatocracy like we have here ,with monied special interests running the country. They have a chance to research world governments and their constitutions and pick the best of the best and start out right. Term limits and free television time and other media for all candidates is a decent start. I'm hoping for the people of Eygpt to do something good to show the world how it can be done. Especially for the other oppressed people of the middle east. I've been around long enough to know that somewhere down the line in almost every human endeaver---"the bad always drives out the good". Hope not.
Keep an eye on those to whom power is being transferred. Also- to conduct themselves peacefully as doing otherwise would further burden the military and enhance the chance that what they transfer to is worse than what they came out of. Unfortunately my status as an American disqualifies me from dispensing advice on how a people should conduct themselves during revolutionary political transition.
That's part of my point. That is their responsibility and they have not completely stepped up and done it. The next responsibility surely should be to go back to normal life, for now. They should not widen the goal-post purely to maintain the protests and violence. To be fair, the clean up begins: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12440015 http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/gallery/2011/feb/13/tahrir-square-cleanup-egypt-pictures scratcho, I'm really talking about the general population of Egypt. Not the political parties responsibilities. Why? You are still a person with thoughts and opinions are you not?...Or are all of those posts I've read of yours a figment of my imagination? There is no reason to turn this around into a slightly anti-American snipe.
I see. Well,I guess try to resume somewhat of a normal life, but pick some representatives to keep some heat on the military to work swiftly into democracy. They say they will demonstrate on fridays now and that should keep things rolling.
Thanks. I think somebody has been messing with my post or I messed it up copying and pasting it (so I didn't lose the text before posting it - bad internet connection). I'll have to go sort that. It was probably me.
Now is the time to bring out the water pipes. No government=cannabis is legal in egypt so they can put some hash in with the shish. It wont happen though, but it should. It would be a great help to the cannabis movement world wide as well. Do you think they are all on twitter, the ones who are still protesting?
I think they might have a few more important issues to worry about, to be fair. I think there just might be an interim/transitional governance in place, too. Sorry, another opportunity to legalise pot is lost. Shucks. No, I don't think they are all on Twitter.
Yeah well FUCK the other issues!:2thumbsup: The legalisation of pot issue has waited TOO LONG. And anyway, what harm could it do if they did that? I'm kind of getting rather sick and tired of hearing this argument that there are more important things to deal with right now. Well it should have been dealt with WHEN THERE WEREN'T OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES THEN SHOULDN'T IT!!!! Fucking DO IT! Egypt.... Light the fire in Cairo and smoke a lump of hash the size of a camel.
No, I do put a lot of thought into human nature...but there is so much going on out in that area and quite honestly, I'm sick of hearing it.
Egypt’s Uprising Has Link to Marijuana Prohibition Opinion by Cannabis Fantastic (6 Days Ago) in Society / Drug Law The Wall Street Journal is reporting that two police who are accused of brutally killing a young man in Alexandria Egypt have escaped jail and are at large. The death of Khaled Said helped trigger Egypt’s popular uprising. The escape occurred when police fled their posts during clashes on Jan. 28, and police stations throughout Alexandria, Egypt's second largest city, were set on fire, the defense and prosecution lawyers told The Wall Street Journal on Sunday. Witnesses say that Said was beaten by police in an Alexandria Internet Cafe after he was arrested in June. Gruesome pictures of his misshapen and unrecognizable face after the beating that left him dead were posted on a Facebook page that protested his treatment. It was his death under police custody that became a rallying point. It was the Facebook page protesting his death and showing the pictures of his beaten face that was the first to call for Egyptians to take to the streets against the government last month. The police defense is that Mr. Said choked to death on a bag of marijuana that he tried to swallow when he saw policemen come into the Internet cafe. The lawyer for the police has said that the damage to Mr. Said’s face occurred during an autopsy. h on a bag of marijuana that he tried to swallow when he saw policemen come into the Internet cafe. their main responsibility is to walk in a normal manner and not in a way which would inspire the bangles to make shit records
OK, breaking news...Iran is following in the Egyptian footsteps...see what I mean? They need to chill out now. This is starting a revolution among the middle east that no one will be able to stop or save
Interesting.. Also interesting to note that (I heard on the internets....eh) the whole reefer madness thing was kicked off by two fuck head egyptian doctors that started saying there was a link between cannabis and schitzophrenia around 100 years ago.. Maybe as all things go in cycles the revolution in Egypt will bring an end to all the reefer madness.
