Thanks for the opinion piece. I didn't see one direct quote from the leaked cables, so I guess I will have to go do my own research from pretty much scratch.
There is an alien base on the far side of the moon. But do your own research, as I always do, if you doubt me. I do appreciate you responding but I hope you get my point.
do you always laugh when someone tells you to fuck off? i think you know i was being serious odon and now you are just trying to laugh it off and to make me look like i am making a mountain out of a molehill... sorry to disappoint, but this IS a molehill... :2thumbsup:
I wasn't laughing about that. I was laughing at you calling me a fascist. Did I not rep your post that mentioned "fascist"? Did I not explain that comment made me laugh? Wasn't that what bamboozled you? Wasn't that what we were talking about? Ok, fair enough your "fuck you" was serious...fine. Ignoring you softening your tone afterwarrds...I can appreciate the anger if you presumed I was seemingly demanding you to think/respond in a certain way. I thought we'd cleared that bit up? Obviously not.
You posted a biased/slanted opinion piece. I posted a biased/slanted opinion piece. Both, imho, of equal value and accuracy. Do you believe there is an alien base on the moon based on my article?
right, ok... yes, i was kinda tongue in cheek about calling you a fascist... it's so easy to get wires crossed... just at a loss as to why you'd respond to my post in the first place.. i mean, why bother?
...I read the bit about nationalism and thought being proud isn't about being nationalistic, imho. So I responded to that bit. I don't consider myself nationalistic...either in it's clichéd form or in it's extreme form. I'm just generally proud of my country...and can provide a long list why. I could also provide a long list of why I am not. However, generally speaking, and generally what successive governments have done for the positive...I am proud of my country. I wanted to see if you agreed being proud isn't nationalistic per se. ...just tryin' to have a conversation...jeez.
I think national pride, or any kind of pride for that matter is a bad bad thing. First of all - you are not responsible for where you were born, so why would you be proud of that? Build something that requires an effort, finish school, pass a test, achieve a goal - thats something one could be proud of, but something as random as where you are from doesnt make sense to be proud of it - not to me anyways. On top of everything else, just the concept of a country or a border or anything that divides us as humans is bad. You put a border between two things and you automatically create a ''us against them'' mentality, which is working against what is best right from the get go. just my opinion
I live on a small island off the coast of Europe. I was born on a small island in the Mediterranean. I choose to be a European first and foremost.
i don't understand why i couldn't call someone a fascist because of that quote it would depend on how far one was to take ones pride... nationalism is a patriotic feeling afterall... but i don't think a little pride in ones country would necessarily imply nationalistic fervour... not knowing you, i can't really comment... i just didn't feel any of the choices applied to me, so i didn't vote... that ok with you odon?
I don't take it too far. I don't sing the national anthem ever, I don't fly a flag outside my house and don't have un-wavering acceptance about everything "it" does. I defend my country if somebody is attacking/demeaning it, as far as I am concerned, unfairly. If none of the options applied to you, fair enough...I was just sayin' (perhaps a little too forcefully).
a bit? he was an awful man... he's in my sig because i don't like him and what he stood for, not because i do...
What about him? Will you be proud when he is gone? (not just because people voted him out...just wondering if your pride only depends on who is running your country).
Still, at least he was elected. Britain is still infested with hereditary parasites. Didn't vote them in, cant vote them out.
