Within every genre there are people who succesfully put forth valid emotion in a creative way. I agree most of what you see of hip hop on TV is mostly about womanizing and how much money they make (which is nothing compared to their record companies CEOs) and I'm not really a fan of the genre, but I've no doubt heard legitmately creative and heartfelt hip hop that had a valuable message. Not a lot of it, but I'm sure I would find tons if I looked for it.

whats wrong with nonsense? i think a certain extent of nonsense is required to qualify as good music.
lots of indie stuff has lyrics about love. now if you ask me, thats pretty nonsensical.

I'd probably listen to Indie if its main audience wasn't a bunch of hipster pretentious douchebags.

You can't insult an entire genre based on the mainstream. I'd say hip hop's definitely not as good as it was in the 90's, but there's been some really great stuff put out there. Just as I assume there's probably some decent Indie music out there. You don't have to like it, but you might want to come up with a better argument than what you have so far.

Check out underground rap, instead. I recommend Necro, Ill Bill, Goretex, Mr. Hyde, Sabac, Immortal Technique, Killa Sha, La Coka Nostra, and Esham.

I als recommend Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z (old material), Nas, AZ, Wu Tang Clan, Everlast, Jedi Mind Tricks, Brother Ali, Non-Phixion, Dark Lotus, Fort Minor, Mos Def, Sicktanick, Razakel, and N.W.A. You can thank Richard, a good friend of mine, for this list. He's really into old school and underground hip hop.

Also, keep in mind that the shit you hear on the radio represents only a small portion of hip hop. The only problem is that it has the loudest voice, especially that Southern bullshit such as Soulja Boy, Paul Wall, D4L, Lil' Jon (ugh!), Lil' Wayne, Yung Joc, Mike Jones, T-Pain, and Dem Franchize Boyz (*winces*). The only good Southern rapper, in my opinion, is Chamillionaire. If you want mainstream rap that is not only good, but meaningful, here are some more links.

good southern rappers (and I KNOW i'm leaving tons out here):

    UGK - Bun B, Pimp C (rip)
Outkast - Big Boi, Andre 3000
    Curren$y
Lil Wayne (is actually decent, the songs you hear on the radio aren't his best)
    Paul Wall can be good
Three 6 Mafia - DJ Paul and Juicy J (the others kind of really fell off, but they added a lot to the feel of early three6)
    B.o.B
    Dead Prez - stic.man and M-1
    Ludacris

Oops, it seems I was a little to quick to judge Southern rap.

Outkast - Quite good. Feel bad for leaving them out.

Lil Wayne- Sorry, his voice really turns me away. And yes, I've listned to his other material

Paul Wall- Can't get into him. What really turns me away is that much of the bullies in my high school loved him. So, everytime I hear him, I think of them.

Three 6 Mafia - Their horrorcore material is quite good, but I am not familiar with their later albums.

Dead Prez - Really? I didn't know he was Southern. He's very good.

Ludacris-Nothing special in my eyes. Another rapper who was popular amongst the bullies in my high school. Sorry.

I'm not familiar with the others.
