warning: if you havent seen it, this thread will probably ruin it for you i suppose ill throw this in the documentary section being that the people behind this movie swear by its authenticity, but its up to you in the end if you believe it to be true. that being said i really enjoyed it. it didnt turn out how i expected, it had a movie like suspense and a really interesting story to tell. it ended up being a beautiful story to me, about the desperate loneliness and sadness of a life that didnt turn out how it was supposed to. i also enjoyed how it delved into the technological way people are living; with the help of internet and facebook anyone can live in a fantasy world or lead any life they choose. it was a thought provoking film and worth watching in my opinion, it evoked very "basic human" feelings and empathy for someone i would have otherwise thought was just plain creepy.
It was OK, don't really see it as a Doco though, can't seem to think if it's real or not, some of it seems real, but after he meets the family it kind of seems fake.
I thought it was good how the ending was such a surprise considering how for him it must have been a huge shock. I'm surprised that ladies husband wasn't more upset though. He must not pay much attention to her if she has all that time to spend lieing. She needs some help I think...mental help. I'm also surprised that they went 9 months without asking to see each other on a web cam considering how camera savvy the directors were etc.
He was in love and that is why he let it build for as long as he did, he was willing to dream even tho he had pretty much figured out he was getting bull shitted.
I agree with this. If you any of you are interested in another in another documentary very, very similar to Catfish, you should check out Talhotblond. It's done more like a profiling on one of those crime shows, so I found it very real. I don't know why I'm so interested in online "predators" and facades
