WOT.?? Dreads Are The Least Maintained Hairstyle Next To A Buzz Cut.... All You Have To Do Is Keep Them "Squeeky Clean"..*dirty or oily hair takes lots longer to dread*, Rip Them If You Feel The Dread Is Getting Too Wide, And Most Importantly, Be Confidant In Yourself, And Be Patient.... Good Dreads Formed Using The "Natural Method", Take About 2 Years. I'm At The 18 Month Mark, And So Far I Have About 55, With Lots Of Little Dreadlings On The Way...:sunny: If You Want It........Go For It........:2thumbsup: Cheers Glen.
I don't know man, just from reading some of the dread threads here I get the sense that a lot goes into maintaining dreads. Maybe thats more so the people that don't choose the natural method...all that backcombing, twisting, rolling, crochet hooks..it boggles the mind. If I do decide to dread I'm definitely going to do the natural way because i've noticed my hair starts to dread really fast if I just go a day or two without brushing. Reading some peoples' experience here with dreads just really made me think that there is a lot of upkeep with them. My hair is about as low maintanance as you can get, its down to my waist almost and all I do is rinse it with water and do an occasional ACV rinse, then let it dry into waves or throw it up in a ponytail. I'm just afraid if I get dreads I'll have to actually start spending time messing with my hair.
I enjoy a good trim. I kept the long hair for a while, but I realized that it was much harder to maintain...I like anything that keeps my hair healthy and trimming it seems to work for my hair.
i needed a trim because my hair was so damaged that it snagged everytime i attempted to take a comb thru it lol. grrr three inches were cut off though good thing my hair grows fast
