Also, Mr. Rogers and my mum's pastor are two of the best influences I've ever had in life.

    My favorite vocalists ever:

Funny thing is having grown up singing all their songs in an agnostic household. Still some of my favorite music, and one of the few things that can bring happy tears to my eyes. :)

I thought the Vatican was pretty cool.
And I like the feeling of calm when you walk into an epic church or cathedral.

I love religious reggae music, especially the wailers and marley's solo stuff. People probably think I am all about god because I sing religious songs all day every day. I'm listening to some right now.

"Spirit in the Sky" is a pretty good tune.

Also I'm glad I'm on the comfortable side of religious oppression and segregation.

really? The Vatican kind of pissed me off.. They told to poor people that they could go to heaven if they paid the church to forgive them of their sins, and then the church takes all the money from the poor people and builds a fucking palace?

I appreciate the religious people who are real. Almost every religious person I meet seems completely full of bullshit. But occasionaly, you meet someone who understands. Who has tapped into to Jesus mindset. I´ve known two of these people, and they have probably have made a more positive influence on my life than anyone else.

i love old traditional religious songs, gospel tunes, slave spirituals, etc

love old church architecture although I get pissed off when modern churches use money from collection to buld big fancy buildings instead of donating it to charity..so its a bit of an oxymoron.

I think all major religious texts are great works of literature. Its just a shame that people don't treat them as literature and instead take them too literally and use them as a manipulation tool.

there are a lot of elements to buddhism and hinduism that i love

    definitely not missionaries.

but what i do admire is the weekly social gatherings. mormons also frequently have dances. see now if i proposed to my fellow atheists we gather once a week just for the heck of it, they'd probably just say "wtf, why?"

Not that stuff, but yes, religious reggae can be very good.

I can appriciate the "religious" feelings of awe and the like, but I prefer to induce them in other ways...

I agree with all of this =D

I mean, even if the Bible gets a bit dry at parts, there are lotsa parables and psalms and the like that are impressively strong writing.
And church buildings are every bit as amazing as castles.

Same here, for all of that, except replace the words "religion" with "spirituality". I can sometimes harbour a lot of resentment for religion, yet some of the biggest influences on me have been spiritual people.

I think there is a difference between religion and spirituality though. I have no use for religion. Spirituality is something else.

Totally agree. I noticed this when I was down in California. There were brand new multi-million dollar churches with full grown palm tress in the parking lots. (Those cost like $10,000 a piece to plant) I guess when everyone attending are millionaires and when they're contributing 10% it can add up.

I can appreciate the comfort and joy it bring to some of it's followers. I have lost a couple of loved ones in my life that were religious, and I appreciated the comfort their religion gave them while facing death.
I'm as atheist as it gets and religion does nothing for me but occasionally piss me off...but I can certainly appreciate some of the good things it does for other people.

Crucifixion is a real turn-on. The Romans sure knew how to treat a Christian!
