Let the SoB rot in jail for the rest of their life. I like how some countries have "life sentences" for murders. However, I do not like how in some countries, like France, life = 20 years. So murders get out after 20 years, yah...not so good. Life should = until you are dead, even if it is 50+ years. However, often times, because of lengthy trials, lasting years and years, DP ends up costing more than just letting the person stay in jail. Especially because of appeals. Plus, for families waiting for the person to be killed by lethal injections, etc., you often have to wait years before the person is put to death. Years of anguish, and the DP may never actually come, instead, the person just rots on death row. So in the end, the family is left in despair, just waiting. Lots of unfair anguish for the victims family. There should just be a life sentence, plain and simple. Then the victims family know what to expect and don't have to wait. And if new evidence is found to exonerate someone who is wrongfully accused (which happens more than the courts, judges, etc. would like to admit) they can be set free. I think considering how many people are wrongfully accused is enough to not like the DP.
Yes but what is positive today, IS NOT positive in +/-5 years, especially with new technologies and new evidence coming to light. Proof positive is still subjective and what you think is proof positive, is not to me or others. Again, especially years down the road. How many people are wrongfully accused around the world, for all sorts of crimes, including murder? How many murderers are later exonerated? Set free? (Who were at first seen as 100% guilty without a doubt). We here of "murderers" being set free 5..10..20 years after they were accused, because they were found to actually be innocent. How many people are set up (it happens all around the world)? Many times, it is not so black and white, between positive and not positive. Don't think for a second that there are not many many innocent people who were put to death. DP is forever...at least ten years in jail can be reversed and the falsely accused can gain some semblance of life back. Can't get that back once you are six feet under.
Should that guy in Arizona be able to plead not guilty? Pretty obvious he did it.Ridiculous waste of time and money.
agreed. there's alot of fights in prision that the guards can't always prevent. and sometimes the inmates kill each other.
ALSO, i wanted to bring up one thing. alot of murderers had terrible childhoods, maybe they were sexually abused or something. after that happening to a child, there's no way the child can fully get over something like that when they're older. it's horrible that anyone should ever have to go thru that, and there's psychological affects that last their whole life
Alot of people who had wonderful childhoods and weren't sexually abused turn out to be murderers, and alot of people who did have terrible childhoods and were sexually abused, are not murderers. It's disgusting that people keep using the "bad childhood" defense to justify their terrible crimes.
The people who are complaining about their tax dollars paying for the lethal injection...who do you think pays for those murderers to sit in jail? Hmm? Anyway, I have no strong feelings either way. I am jaded about the whole topic of murder. America has a fucked up justice system. But while the rest of your states are making you pay for your criminals to spend time learning to be better criminals, my tax money is going to the lethal injection express line.
i'm not saying it's an excuse, i'm just saying, stuff like that happening especially when you're a child, can really mess you up mentally wise :/
some people should just be hung. much easier and you can reuse the rope for others. like the american consulate worker in Pakistan. just hang him hang the kid in Arizona. no reason to keep people like this alive.
who cares DUI offender drive bullets down the road, kill people and nothing comes of it.. little slap on the wrist.... meanwhile someone with a bag of weed in their cars gets tossed to the ground, head held to the ground by a foot.. but we here in America cater to the drunks.. We even have drunk judges and drunk cops that kill people on the roadways and nothing comes of it... you need to focus on some priorities.. Since you dont know 1/2 the murder cases may have been justifiable and you got stuck with a retarded jury.. Pensa!!
I'm against the dealth penalty. There are some valid arguments for it but for me the arguments against it are more important. Yes, I realise that it costs more to keep someone in prison than my salary. That to me isn't significant enough reason. There are plenty of sick fucks to commit unthinkable crimes but I find it more fitting to let them rot behind bars forever. We've had a murder in my family. Going through something like it is unexplainable. Some young men were found guilty but only got a few years. You have to just think 'fuck it' otherwise you'll go crazy. Life is for the living.
No. It's wicked. I don't see the inherent logic in murdering murderers. But yes, in the past, innocent people have been executed (we don't have exact numbers), and over 100 people have been released from death row because DNA evidence has proved them innocent. The system fails, and society has no right to determine who lives or dies. Certainly the family doesn't. If someone murdered my loved ones I'd want them to die. But the idea of our justice system is that by working together we make more rational fair decisions than biblical eye for eye justice.
PUPPIES. Anyway, I'm against the death penalty. Even if someone commits cold-blooded murder, it's not the government's place (morally) to decide whether or not someone deserves to live. I think measuring the value of someone's life based on a decision they made should be up to the people they hurt. 1. The death penalty should only be inflicted on murderers, if anybody. 2. Only if the family(ies) of the victim(s) want the person dead. And they should choose the method. And one of them should be the one to actually kill the person.
People always say this but the government doesn't do anything but sign off on it. To get the death penalty you first have to be found guilty by a jury of Murder in the 1st. Then if the prosecution was seeking the death penalty, a jury must once again vote unanimously to approve it, then a judge has to agree with it.
I think there should be an incredibly difficult and deadly maze, filled with traps, that a convicted murdered has to negotiate. If the person makes it through, they go free and get a job at Microsoft. The maze run should be put on TV every Wednesday night at 9PM and back seasons should be available on blu-ray and DVD.
