I have this desire to leave home and go places... specifically New York... the Chinatown Bus only costs $15... I don't want to live in a house I want to go drift across America.... I don't want to be stuck here! My only problem is that I'm too young... Am I crazy?
nah pletys a people run away when they're young. Not the smartest thing to do unless you're being abused. Be patient, you have a long time to travel in life. I want to travel too but traveling sucks when you aren't rich.
There is plenty to learn and experience right around you. Get a part time job. Meet some new people. Go to some shows in town. Find a cool coffee house to hang in. Meet some cool girl that will be a lot of fun at first but in the end up messing with your head. Plenty of the world to explore and learn from right around you. Learn more about life while your life is easy so you are ready for things later. Plenty of time to see NYC when you are older. And you probably still haven't seen the movie Harold & Maude.
How old are you? I live in NYC and let me tell you, unless you have the $, don't bother. Like KevinH said, there is plenty to learn right around you.
Hey Dazed , yeah I'm from Md. too . How old are you man ? I like your style and way of thinking for a young dude . I say sit tight and be patient , hoppin out on the road ain't much fun broke . It's a struggle no matter where you are . If you got family that loves you , and i think you do . Stay close to home brother . Save some cash and then reevaluate the situation . I think is your best bet. I been to China town and all of N.Y.C. never did much for me . Better to be broke ass poor at home , then broke ass poor on the road . Yeah it sounds cool and it is , but it will get REAL old , real fast if you rush into it . Have patience grasshopper . It will be there when you get older .
OH dude 15 , that's way to young to even be thinking about it . And a couple hundred bucks ain't going to do nothing for ya ! What about school ? Think about this when you're 18 , believe me you will be glad you did .
Well I know for a fact I'll leave eventually.. but not now... I didnt even say I was... I just have a strong desire too... and its not that I hate home its just that I wanna go somewhere else. I'm not even in school right now my whole school situation is fucked up... I'm trying though... I probably won't finish very well.. :biker:
200 dollars won't take you very far in new york. Also, NYC isn't nearly as dangerous as it used to be but its not going to be entirely safe for a 15 year old runaway with enough money to maybe see them through a couple of nights. You'll burn through 200 dollars very quickly and then you'll be stuck trying to find a place to sleep on the streets.
I didn't say I was going to go yet... I never said that once.... so will all stop saying "You're too young at 15" I don't just wanna go to New York I wanna go everywhere... I'm leaving this thread now... you guys can keep adding to it but I am finished... Now I'm going to get a cup of coffee...
Just wait it out till you are at a good age to make a accurate decision. Save up some more money then 200$ you will not get far with it. The world is alot harsher then it was 50 years ago. If you do decide to do go out on your own and travel i would recommend the west coast as people are generally more friendlier.
Have a little patience and enjoy your life for what it is. These days won't last long and you'll be old enough that they will expect you to be off and taking care of yourself in the blink of an eye. Or at least it will seem like that when it's all over. And when you get offended at people saying, "You're too young," just think one of these days, you're going to be giving the same kind of advice to someone younger than you. With age comes wisdom, just understand that much.
I know exactly how it feels, man. I'm only 16 but I already want to go everywhere and see everything. In my opinion I think it'd be best to wait it out 'til you're a little older, that's what I'm doing. But if you really want to, follow your heart!
You're "just" 15? Hell, that's not too young. When you turn 16, that's when you go travel. 15 is when you prepare and plan, bro!
