The Monstera fruit. It's like a hybrid of pineapple and banana (not genetically, but it looks and tastes that way). It's exotic to me because of it's "tropically" taste and appearance and also the fact that it's very hard to find around my way.

Coconuts are probably my favorite exotic thing though, even though they are readily available in non-tropical locations. I love everything about them, the smell, taste, water, milk, the myriad uses for coconut oil...

Exotic doesn't exactly mean tropical. Especially to a culture or nationality which inhabits the tropics.

It means something out of the ordinary; something outside of one's own norms.

Eskimo food is considered exotic for those who live in the Caribbean for example.

To me, I feel exotic is something out of the ordinary, exciting, non native, etc.

I think any place that offers good emotional reception can be exotic. The library, a church, the bathroom, certain restaurants, a garden, or a special geographical location such as national parks, or the ocean. Even a concert venue can be exotic!

You're right, but since I live a stone's throw from the land of the Amish, bananas could be considered exotic to some people around here, heh. Anything tropical and not readily accessible in a local store could be exotic to someone who lives in a deciduous zone. On the flipside for instance, akin to what you said, pumpkins could be exotic to someone in Egypt. It's all in perspective. My exotic or tropical is someone else's ordinary and vice versa.

Some obscure and hard to get research chemicals are sometimes called exotic.

Rats are generally considered exotic pets, but they are commonplace to me :2thumbsup:

Although I’m not well traveled – Some europe, mexico, canada, the bahamas, and throughout the lower 48 ….. I’ve seen enough, read enough, eaten enough, and met enough people from every foreign land that nothing seems exotic :(

    Perhaps Mars :2thumbsup:

I've got tickets to Bangkok or LA tomorrow night.

I don't consider either of those places exotic.
