about a year or so ago, Ive been trying to fix this house up the quickest I can. And its really just a giant shack. When Im gone the dynasty is finished.. But I have to make this livable..

Everyday we do a little bit this and a little bit that.. Now its getting warmer Ill be doing more work. I often find things that I can recycle into this house. Even if it mean stripping another house of its guts and putting the stuff here.. Which I will be doing with my country house taking the kitchen apart and moving it here , I have the sink already(a pic for the kinky thread when the time comes around).. hehe.

Since I have some really big rooms, It would take me a fortune in lumber to repair it. So not long ago I had found a few bookcases and then another and began to take the sides and shelves off and screw them to the ceiling

dont it sound silly, but it actually looks alright.. There are a few different colors now cause I manage to find these tossed in the trash almost everywhere at least on every few weeks when Im looking.. I think I have to find about 3 more to finish 13X15 .. Its looks strong too, this side wood and shelf is strong.. But the best part is: its free didnt cost me nothing, and more lumber dont need to be wasted....

Im wasted, so I made this..:2thumbsup:

i think it will be a beautiful thing when people build out of all our garbage. i have been looking at the denim insulation lately, trying to convince my parents to do their house, its soooo cold in their house. nice in the summer, but damn. i want to fix up their attic, i figure i can do some insulation and new plywood 'floor' for storage areas, the last owners used MDF i think, its cracked in a lot of places, im afraid someones going to go up for decorations and fall through the ceiling.

I cant even talk to my mom about fixing stuff in her house. I just do it. Its impossible to communicate with them.... Ive realized that over the years and specially while I was in the army doing thing for people that can not speak my own language. You dont try and talk to them you just do your job.. :2thumbsup:

its not my mom i have to convince, its my dad. hes stubborn, so if it isnt his idea first, he resists. i guess i could buy the supplies and sneak up there on the pretext of putting my own stuff in the attic. but i have to measure up there first.

reminds me of a friends house...a couple guys that ate so much mcdonalds that they stapled all the empty drinks and styrofoam[70s]burger boxes to the ceiling..it was pretty cool ..they did the entire kitchen ceiling, straws and all

you can use cans flattened out to cover holes in barn walls, and by extension could probably successfully shingle a roof with them.

do you think if we took a bunch of CDs we could make a giant reflective raft since the ice is melting away and the ocean absorbs so much heat? i had an idea about mirrors on boats, but a reflective surface that floats without the complexities of boat building would be better.

I read the title of this before I went to get a drink and was thinking the whole time of a way to do that without the books falling out. Then I read the thread and facepalmed.

    True story.

nets. or make it an art piece, and glue them in :)

actually i have some house plans that involve roof pitch ceilings, and i have designed some bookcases to address that, but it would be a very wacky room.

and i love the phrases facepalm and headdesk. :) they are so expressive.
