I am 18, I first started dating this guy in october who's older and more experienced sexually (He's had about 8 partners).

The first time we had sex was fine, but 2 weeks later I got itching and soreness and a bit of bleeding in my special place. I had a feeling it was thrush so i took canesten tablet and used the cream. It didn't help, so I went to a doctor and they gave me flucanozole and it was gone within a week.

We had sex in november with a condom and I was absolutely fine after.

I'm on the pill, and have had 2 full sexual health checks, one in november, one december. He's had sexual health checks too. So we thought hey, let's have sex without condoms.

But ever since we've started doing that, BANG thrush 1- 3 days after. I've tried everything pretty much. I've made him wear a rubber again, but that still aggrivates it. I've used Natural Bio Yoghurt, but it only helps for a bit. I've used pessaries, and tablets, it feels better until we have sex.

I don't see him all the time, so when we do have sex I want it to be special but I keep getting bouts of thrush. I've been doctors and clinic countless times- all they do is throw pessaries at me- and am in a bit of a pickle.

Oddly now, I only have internal symptoms, like a weird occasional sting and itch inside, but not swelling or soreness outside though i still have a lot of discharge. I don't understand why I can't get rid? Is it my partner's girth or is his semen doing this to me? Have I made it worse? Any advice? This is really getting me down... :/

its possible you have a semen allergy.. If so, you would have some symptoms with it in your mouth to?. Any problems there, or unsure?.

Get your boyfriend to take the flucanozole. Both of you need to take the full dose until the tablets run out, otherwise it won't ever go away.

Can men take the tablet? I thought they only needed to apply the cream for about a week? Cos apparently they don't get symptoms always?

And I dunno, I worried I may be allergic to his semen... He doesn't eat healthily, smokes and likes a beer and it does sting a bit when he ejaculates.

Thank you for the replies :) x

If the flucanozole worked, then it's thrush and not an allergy. And if you get it after sex that means he has it. Symptoms don't always appear, and the reason you need to take it until it runs out is that the fungus gains resistance and the stronger strains become harder to eliminate.

If you want to be sure, the doctor can do a test on the cells lining the vagina.

It sounds like you are sensitive to seman and/or the bacteria that his hands mouth/your anus are adding to your vagina. Seman changes the ph of a woman's vagina leading to yeast and bacteria problems. It's pretty common. You can research on the web!

an easy and cheap solution if you want to continue bareback is to get some powdered boric acid from your local or online pharx and some size 00 gel caps online or at a local shop. Fill the capsule with the acid and insert after sex or that night. It will stop you from getting infections. No real adverse side effects, except it is a pain (to have to do anything :)) there will be some discharge a few hours after insertion, and if used consistently everyday over long periods of time, it could cause dryness. Boric acid is cheap and commonly used to treat both yeast and bacteria. You also find other solutions online that might work for you. If you continue to use any Rx types of solutions, long term, their effects will decrease over time.

Men rarely get and usually don't show signs of thrush. If you are treated, he SHOULD be fine.

You could also add acidophilus to your diets to help out.

re-read, and wanted to add that boric acid gets rid of resistant yeast, as well, unlike many other rx or methods. I would really rec. it for you. Use the capsules 1x per day for 7 days and then taper to every other day, every 2 days, etc. and then see how you feel. Your period often changes the ph levels of you vag., so you may want to use one or two capsules at the end of your period for the first few months. Once you have any infections under control, and use regularly after sex, you should be able to just use it sporadically, but you may have a vagina where you will need to use it on and off occasionally to always keep your ph/infections under control.

very safe. one of the few products that has no long term ill effects, doesn't build up resistance, has an unbelievably high success rate against both bacteria and yeast, at the same time, and it's cheap. You should be able to buy boric acid and empty capsules online. I know there are others in the uk who use the product.

I can get/see them online at amazon.co.uk, but I can't get it to link on my post. You'll have to look there yourself.

Never ingest boric acid, as it is poisonous. It is only to be used vaginally.

Just pour some in the cap or a bowl and scoop it with the gel caps and close together. It's easiest to insert using a plastic applicator that comes with over the counter yeast infection medicines, since you want to have it up as far as possible. Wash hands before and after. ;) I rec. you use it at night, since it will stay internally longer, and have better effects.

Here is a site that has really helpful tips to help reduce vaginal irritation and infections. http://www.holisticgyn.com/vaginal.html

If I find some other helpful links, I'll post them for you.

Honestly, and unfortunatley, vaginal irritation and infections are very, VERY common. They just had been blown off by doctors and there was no outlet for women to share and discuss their problems until recent years. :(

What kind of lube are you using, if any?
Make sure it's nothing with flavor. Thrush/yeast thrive on sugar. Even many waterbased lubes have glucose and unfriendly products. If you are using a lubricant with glucose or sugar, try going to a Silicon based lube.
    Did wonders for me.

    Aww Thank you :)
We use KY Jelly for intercourse. I checked the ingredients and it doesn't have anything irritable in it. I might try one of those organic lubes. XD

This has been a threatening problem. You must be careful according to me. Either you are prone to Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) or he is. You can also consult a physician for help
