Even though I joined this forum about a year ago I just started posting here!! I recognize some here from another Opiate forum (which has since evaporated) and I had many friends there and I look to make new friends here as well!!!! Well my Opiate journey started back in 1988 when I was in a Honda Accord and was hit by a tractor-trailer ended up in me having 4 lumbar surgeries winding up in a L4 to S1 fusion, radicular pain down both legs a mountain of scar tissue and decreased motion and constant lower back pain!!! This being before the prevalance on PM clinics/Docs so I was mostly at the mercy of Family Mds to control the pain so it was mainly Perc 5s, Tylenol 4s, Vike ES or whatever flavor of the month the docs would throw at me, so this lasted from 1988 till 1996 when my doc said let's try this (Oxy 40s) and WOW!!!! that sure did the trick for a while until June 16th 2003 when the vehicle I was in struck a tree at 65mph resulting in (1) fractured skull (2)8 broken ribs (3) Herniated discs at C3-4, C6-7, T2-3 (4) ruptured Spleen,(5) separated sternum, (6) traumatic dislocation on 3 fingers on left hand, This on top of the ongoing issues that I already had going on!!!! Needless to say the Oxys weren't cutting the mustard anymore that's how I wound up on Fent150mcgs every three days, 1200mgs of Neurontin three times a day and 0.5 of Ativan for sleep...
Well that's me in a nutshell!!! I hope to make many new friends hereand to reconnect with some of my old friends as well! I have many other medical issues ie: 2 heart attacks double bypass and such but that's a story for another day!!! Thanks for listening and making me feel welcome!!
    Peace
    Fentmeister150:)

Hi. Unfortunately, this forum doesn't have many opioid-friendly regulars. There are some of us, however, and having this sub-forum helps keep out the people who think opioids are the devil. Some, like me, are on Suboxone/ buprenorphine but still love talking about opioids! Then there is a group of Oxycodone lovers, and another group of folks who are dabbling with stuff like Hydrocodone APAP and Percocet and Tramadol. Lots of variety.

It is nice to met you. I am currently on 4mg of Suboxone Film per day, but sometimes take double that if I want to get strongly high. I am happy with the situation.

Glad that's working out for you I've often wondered about the subs/bupes and if they worked for pain like they say that methadone does!!! I sometimes wish that I could go a route other than Opies but being 52 and at this late stage in the game I don't know if there would much point in it!!! Thaks again for making me feel welcome I hope to make new friends here!!!
    Peace

Suboxone is excellent for pain. In fact, 2mg is equianalgesic to around 80mg of Morphine. There is a dose ceiling however: doses over 4mg or so do not yield further pain relief (or high-ness) as you increase dose. So, in theory, you are maxxed out at around 160mg of Morphine, equianalgesic speaking. I feel like 4mg is equal to 60-80mg of Oxycodone. They don't prescribe it for pain because of the Ceiling Effect. But, at pain that is cured with less than 60-80mg Oxy, it works amazingly well.

Have you ever tried smoking cannabis in combination with painkillers? And if so, did it help the pain any more?

Just curious, and welcome to HF as well

Welcome to the forum. I would concur with HFx to try cannabis for pain relief. If you aren't getting enough relief with your current meds cannabis may make you pain free. If you are already getting completely relief cannabis may allow you to cut back on the narcotics.

The patches are problematic in my book ie: They irritate my skin,if you get too sweaty they don't want to stick right, I've accidently ODed from getting overheated!!! I can't smoke weed because my doc piss tests me almost every month!! Don't get me wrong the patches work I sometimes wish there was a better method for my pain relief!!

If you tell your doc up front that you are considering trying cannabis to reduce your pain in hopes of reducing the amount of narcotics you have to take he may understand. After all, all docs know that pot is safer than narcotic pain meds.

hey Fent buddy! good to hear from ya again. its too bad OF dissapeared, but as long as we keep our group together, things should still be cool.

i recently got accepted into the pain clinic here after waiting almost 2 years. they think they know what is causing most of my pain, and have a plan to treat it! OC hasn't been workin so well for me lately, so when i go see my new doc on wednesday, im gonna ask him about getting on fent. we already discussed either trying that or methadone, and he said he wouldn't have a problem with me trying it. im stoked.

    anyways, keep in touch brotha.
