Why are you deliberately trying to decieve other readers by posting a reply which PRETENDS to be to some assertion or opinion (I Never Made)?

WHERE did I assert that the USA was a Christian Country?

And while your at it... YOU explain 'Separation of Churdch and State' to us .. then try and explain how its relevant to this discussion?

Please stop attributing statements to me that I never made.

    Thanks

Impressive! This post has become nothing more than a pissing match...

Brocktoon, Straight persons can marry ONE person that they love, homosexuals cannot do that. How can you ignore such a distinction?

There is a glaring distiction between straight/gay people...the sex of the individuals involved in a relationship. I wouldn't consider that a title, and I don't think that ignoring distinctions does anything productive.

There are not just distinctions between groups of people, but there are distinctions between individuals (THANK GOD!). I am not sure I understand your point.

You are talking about two different things. You cant take this to a genetic level, since there is no conclusive proof that homosexuality is a genetics issue and not a choice. You cant compare skin color/hair color or whatever to homosexuality.

As you know, Marriage is between a man and a woman(DOMA). You can have a marriage if you wish. If you want a 'marriage like institution' for homosexuals, you are NOT talking about equality, but a whole new set of rights. Of course, you'll deny this, since it makes the issue a legislative issue(i.e. impossible to be federally recognized) as opposed to a judicial issue(only takes a small handful to force it on everyone).

No. It has not become a 'Pissing Match'.

Thats unfortunate you choose to describe debates and arguments as 'Pissing Matches'.

PhotoGra - Straight or Homosexual - you have the right to marry ONE person of the opposite sex.
If you happen to love them - Bonus for you!

There is NO DISTINCTION for me to 'Ignore'.

Should there be a new law introduced it will also apply TO EVERYONE EQUALLY.
ONE Person will be able to marry either ONE Male or ONE female.

As always.. Love will be between the two straight men/ two gay men / one gay women/ two straight women/ One gay man - One Straight man / One Straight woman - One gay woman.

These by the way will be the various combinations legally allowed to marry IF the laws are changed.

If you want to institute 'Gay Marriages' then Im not sure how we can go about registering people as 'Homosexuals'.

I suppose it will be the same as a Drivers License in the USA, where it would say:
Race: Caucasion / Latino / Asian / Black
    Sex: Male / Female
Sex Partner Preference: Man / Woman / Both

This way we would know if its a legal 'Gay Marriage'?

As it stands PhotoGra - you have the EXACT same rights as I have.

Unfortunately.. NIETHER of us have the 'right' to marry one person we love. We can hope for that to happen, but no amount of regulations will guaruntee we find someone to love.

Everyone can marry someone of the opposite sex. But there are people who don't WANT to marry them. Why can't they be treated like everyone else? When the American government is discouraging you from being who you were born as, then what do you do? It's just ridiculous.
And Brocktoon, I never said that you said the US was a Christian country. But the whole reason for not letting gay people get married has to do with the Christian religion. And it's stupid to mix that religion into the state laws, discriminating against a group of people...
    it's disgusting.

Why does fear have to cause hate?

Do you honestly think that slave owners 'feared' blacks? Do you honestly think that homophobes fear gays? You dont need fear to hate. You just need anger.

    I don't understand...?

I was talking about ONE thing, the glaring distinction between homosexual and heterosexual relationships (ie, the sex of the people involved). I didn't bring up genetics, skin color, or the "cause" of homosexuality...

    you said..

"There are not just distinctions between groups of people, but there are distinctions between individuals (THANK GOD!). "

Are you not talking about genetic distinctions between individuals here? Or did you mean distinctions like cheese pizza lovers and pepperoni pizza lovers?

I took the distinctions to be genetic distinctions. If that was not what you meant, then i'm sorry and disregard that.

    Oh, I see...fair enough...

I was simply referring to a vague, infinite set of possible distinctions.

I never once said it was the ONLY reason. But it IS the reason that the government won't allow gay marriage...

I look at the religious thing as the cover story, the real reason....it is just fear. they are afraid of gays. Why? Who knows, maybe they feel they might be seduced into becoming gay. It is irrational and hateful.

I actually doubt that, I've seen many homophobic atheists. Their reasons rested, at the core, merely on being grossed out by it.
