That all the forests will be cut down and the world will be filled with shopping centers, parking lots, cities, and highways... .........
this is my biggest fear too. I get a sinking feeling anytime I see a new shopping center or subdivision pop up where rural country used to be.
It will only become more and more so. Our contemporary thought is focused not on humanity or nature, but on efficiency and overcoming: overcoming everything, including humanity. The big secret is that even environmental organizations and legislation play into this completely. The environment is to be managed efficiently as a resource important to the system, as are we; there is no love left among our modern "intellectuals" for nature in itself, or for humanity in itself. This love is taken advantage of in us to further these things.
Drugs are wrong, but destroying the world and exploiting billions for personial gain is the rightious path. Either way, the world is only going to be around as long as God wants it to be.
Mass consumerism and corperate greed drive men/women to do insane things. We need to slow this machine down and re-think our path. You should see what they are doing to our mountains here in WV with the mountain top removal coal mines....:-(
An issue that was, and continues to be of relevance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlNZN94_u-s"]YouTube - Joni Mitchell - Big Yellow Taxi Will we ever learn? - Perhaps not, whilst theare is Greed,Coruption and self-centered focus (?) Still whilst there is the rebel, there is always hope < Peace + Love - Protest + Protect - Save the Planet > eace:
I'd say it's pretty much inevitable. Most countries that have been affected by a few greedy rogues world wide with the resulting near collapse of capitalism ,including in this country, are busy trying to get the machines of industry cranked back up again to the detriment of the earth and therefore in long terms, humanity. Take the steady ,geometric rise in population, coupled with the desire to keep turning resources into commodities ,3rd world countries trying to catch up with their own wants and extrapolate the problem to it's logical conclusion and see how else it could be. The world is run on wants, not so much on needs. It's -create a want that looks like a need and be the very one to fulfill that want. That's the basis of the whole game. And we all play the game as if it means nothing.
Fuck this is so awful... I'm literally scared that the whole world will have no forests.. Forests are my favorite place in the world... its so peaceful and quiet.. sometimes you can even hear a stream running.. Try to cut any of the forests down near me... well they're gonna have ta get through meh... Fuckin greedy corrupt bastards!
They're pretty slick here. What looks like thick forest in some places along the roads,is just a line of trees to cover up a clearcut behind. If you've never seen a clearcut--it blows you away. Looks like a mowed lawn as far as you can see,in some cases.
The United States has a pretty good National Parks program in place and have since the 1940s..so even if they pave paradise and put up a parking lot, at least there will always be designated places in the US that cannot be touched.
Honestly I grew up with a father who logged with horses. The thing is think about how many trees there are on earth probably trillians. Trees are a renewable resource. They grow back. The town where I grew up was on a peninsula with a hill in the middle with a house where my grandfather was born on top of the hill. I saw 2 pictures taken in the early 1950's from the front yard of the house across sheep pastures to the shore on both sides. 50 years later the trees grew up and you couldn't see either shore from the house anymore. Thick dense forest on either side. Stay Brown, Rev J
Actually we had this real big tree at the top of the hillside that goes down beneath our property. It was slightly more on our neighbors' property and some workers convinced her dumbass that if she got rid of it, squirrels wouldn't be able to nest in her roof. Long story short, they cut down this big beautiful tree, complete with great swinging vines. That summer the hillside looked so bare, and the ground was shifting faster than usual. The summer after that however; saplings everywhere, you can barely get down the hillside now, there's so many furry young trees.
One tree makes something like 600,000 lbs of paper. It's crazy how much paper we'd save by limiting our use of paper receipts by using email and online banking to keep track of our purchases. The only problem is that people are used to them.
I think that if some company set up to make non-flammable plastic lumber out of the plastic garbage we throw away,(like the decking material currantly in use)) the forests could be left alone to grow to their former state. Or maybe compressed hemp lumber would do the trick. There needs to be wild places left so that humans can re-create from the hustle of society.
If the trees disapear so will we. Not only do they supply our oxygen to breath, they change the current of the oceans, and home all of natures species. If the species have no home, we have no food. Honestly if our forests vanish, I can't see us here much longer. Also I think its common most people don't realize how much we consume and do not put back. Some companies have grown massive tree farms which s good, but it doesn't hold the other thousand big and small plants that are needed. I've heard from many sources, public and private, that half of the worlds forests are wiped out. This is not a simple matter of just regrowing that. It took hundreds of thousands of years, humans cannot simply recreate that. Mother nature calls the rules in the end, and we won't have a say about it. Greed is going to destroy us all. http://www.rain-tree.com/facts.htm
Hey Billyx.. first thing to pop in my head was.."they paved paradise and put up a parking lot". Thank you for the amazing video that I wasn't aware of !
